Kaze Eyrou, Maxed out Forge Gunner, with Forge Gun Proficiency Level 1 and Heavy Weapon Sharpshooter Level 1, reporting:
I like your determination with sticking to forge gunning and wish you well on your journey, from one forge gunner bro to another.
When I first got into this game, I scanned through my skills and found the Forge Gun skill. I had no idea what a Forge Gun was and was determined to access it in order to figure out this weapon. When I finally got it, I was amazed that it was really good at taking down vehicles and awed by it's massive destructive power. So I kept a suit handy in case I ever needed to take down vehicles.
Fast forward a bit and I found more and more players using much more durable vehicles, steamrolling and redlining my team to my frustration. My bad luck with vehicles became a driving force to max out the one thing I saw that would drive away these enemy vehicles.
Now that I'm at a point where I can use any Forge Gun I have found more vehicles running away than before (if they don't find me first). Currently I run a setup where I have damage modifiers to up the damage even more when striking an enemy vehicle. Charge times at level 5 are so much faster than when I was at level 1 and would highly recommend to future forge gunners to get to first; I have found that a split second was usually between me blowing up a tank and dying once they found me. Don't underestimate the speed of charging your Forge Gun.
If you can, start saving up ISK to purchase some of the higher level stuff. I would recommend getting Forge Gun proficiency level 1 simply for the Ishukone. With a quicker charge time and higher damage, it's definitely a force to be reckoned with, although you cannot hold a charge.
But these higher level guns require a huge amount of CPU and powergrid. My advice would be to level up your Heavy Dropsuit to 1 or 3 to get the full benefit of these guns.
And finally, don't deny the cheaper forge guns. When I'm by myself and have no one cover me, I pull out a cheaper variant so if I die trying to take out an enemy tank or dropship, I'm not in the hole, ISK-wise, at the end of the match.
But when faced with enemy tanks and dropships, and you have sufficient support from teammates, coordinate your attack, have a squadmate help you with a Forge Gun of his own, and with all of that, you will be able to devastate the opponent, possibly clearing the battlefield of all enemy vehicles!
Let the metal rain down.
Hope to see you on the battlefield! Good luck with your endev |
