Well written sir. I enjoyed reading your report of the battle, and hope to read more as after action reports in the future.
As to the reason you wrote this (this isn't an after action report) - I get what you are saying and I understand and sympathize with your frustration. That having been said, I think you may be over looking a couple of important facts.
Fixing what you are talking about will most likely require an update on the client software, and not the server software. CCP is aware of the issues with only a few people gettting into matches, and additional people not allowed in until later. CCP has demonstrated that when a server side fix is necessary, they will deploy a hotfix on the server to correct the issue depending on severity of the issue (which CCP rightfully reserves the right determine).
For client side issues, they are much more reluctant to put out hotfixes. This is understandable, as hotfixes on a client are typically more unstable. For these, they prefer to include them with the larger builds, as they have a more controlled approach to make sure that they do not destabilize the existing client - they are integrating with new software altogether, meaning this is integrated code instead of an adhoc fix. From a coding standpoint, especially from kernel level perspectives, it is often impossible to issue a hotfix at all. (And to clarify, I work directly with software developers in my current profession, and am pulling from that experience here.)
Given that they have a schedule of approximately 6 weeks for each new build, I don't see this as being over the top in terms of turn around time, especially since this is a closed beta. Once this is an open beta, I foresee this changing and CCP being willing to move toward a release schedule similar to Eve (meaning a major build every 6 months, and not every 6 weeks, and client side hotfixes more regularly and as necessary).
I hope you stick around - I've enjoyed fighting with and against you over the last few months. If you do stay, please please please write up some after action reports! I want to read them - you are pretty skilled in your description of the battle!

He blew up a tank a dropship and 4 lav's and didnt get **** for isk. Running AV is expensive and your going to die your payoff should be dependent on getting that vehicle kill to pay back the suits you lost. Killing vehicles needs to reward way more isk than it currently is.
My stance on the ISK is the same as it has always been - once we can sell salvage the average payout will increase. You won't always get salvage, and it will occasionally be over valued for what you did in a match, but I think this will average out and will make the matches more balanced. Personally, I like the randomization - of course I'm all about random in any game I play as predictable is boring. Others probably disagree with me on that, but this is why I didn't mention the ISK payout. |
