So we know EMP grenades are coming this is a game set into the future and weaponizing EMP would be practical in a high technology society, but what should it affect after reading Emperyian a book set in the EVE universe the caldari used EMP to shut down the Gallente weapons and since EMP knows no friendly fire they brought in weapons that wouldnGÇÖt be effected by it, mimitar low tech weapons, this could lead to interesting specialty and tactics players could use EMP to disable anything that would logically be disabled by it.
So why not have EMP shut down laser weapons like the laser rifle and scrambler pistols for 2 to 4 seconds, have a EMP Half the damage done by rail guns and blaster/plasma weapons for 2 or 3 seconds, and elt mimitar have slightly lower DPS but be complete immune to EMP. And of course EMP would affect the player throwing the grenade as well so if they are using blaster or laser then they get the same effect if they in the blast radius as well.
Of course you would need a counter so why not have a module that reduces the effects of EMP a EMP shielding module as a simple counter it could either lower the time its effected or reduce its effects. Meaning someone can create and entire fit around EMP and using EMP weapons.
[Note] As for complaints around EMP disabling weapons it only disables weapons in its radius so yes it might get you dead but if your in the blast radius of a EMP nade then your probable in the radius of a normal nade so they could just as easily kill you with a normal grenade no need to throw the nade then shoot you they can throw the nade and collect the kill. That is my response to any this would be OP if a EMP nade can disable you atleast you have a change cuase if they got you with a EMP nade then they could just as easily got you with a normal nade
[Other] there could be a EMP under attachment that launch the pulse in a short cone shape from the under barrel
[Other] if we ever get hackable sliding doors, on/off energy catwalks, elevators a EMP could disable these for a short amount of time as well
