Once "fired" it would float around the target repairing as needed unti it's supply of nanites ran out at which point it would expire. Similar to the armor rep nanohive but for a single target and no ammo resupply. Like the nanohive it wouldn't use nanites to repair when they aren't needed.
Spook Drone: It acts as an extra blip on the radar turning one man into two. Higher quality drones could have an increased signature radius or float further away from the user.
Drones could operate outside user control and function in a similar fashion to EW/Logi drones in Eve. This will allow for a Logi-Dust suit to shoot while still supplying rep/ew support to their squad.
The Armor Rep drone I would like to see as maybe a, not so much a replacement but an "upgrade" to the remote armor rep. Having remote repair skilled up to say, three or more, and you can spec into drone control to control rep drones. The size of it would be compareable to the one in Playstation Home as a reward for being in the beta. While you won't carry it with you, you can actually call it down with a remote and it will be deployed in a pod from the Warbarge or MCC. It will follow you and repair nearby infantry that are close and will lock onto them to rep for an X amount of time, say 10s worth of reps, or until full and it will go into a cooldown for another bit of time before it can repair again. That way it can still be autonomus.
Higher level variants can increase the amount of HP repaired, decrease cooldown of its repairs, or even at the prototype variant, being able to control two of them at a time. These drones can also be target by enemy fire, and having them lockable by a swarm launcher is...iffy, but it could be done for their destruction. Upon the controller's death, the drones self detonate, which could cause small explosion damage.
The can also be variants that could only repair vehicles or installation. Think about person with an armor or shield repping drone that pilots a vehicle, which could be a bit of a replacement for repping module for more resistance or buffer.
For the spook drone, it seems like a curious thing. Giving false signatures, like it could be showing a squad of four moving around or even a tank signature, to confuse the enemy by bringing out worst off fits. |

These are great ideas.
Hopefully each level of Drone Control will allow the user to control one additional drone up to a max of 5. I'd love run around with a toolbox hovering over my head. Well, say that Drone control does allow you to control 5 drones? It wouldn't make much sense since the highest amount of equipment slots that a suit can have is 4, which is the Logistics. Unless you are able to call down more than one at a time, without the other self detonating, I don't see why that would be a good idea. there.
But yeah, each drone can have only one function, it only repairs armor or it only distracts enemies, and not a swiss army knife. |
