After watching this series, I realized the massive effect that these four men had in moving the United States forward which later resulted in the US becoming the most prosperous nation in the 20th Century.
John D. Rockefeller and his kerosone industry which fuels America's auto industry and once lit much of the nation with its kerosene lamps.
J.P. Morgan and his electrical industry (with Thomas Edison's help no less) which powers much of America today after establishing General Electric Company.
Andrew Carnegie and his steel industry which landed lucrative contracts with the US government in the construction of America's infrastructure and navy as well as the steel used in the production of the automobile.
Henry Ford and his streamlined assembly line for the automobile for the common man (priced at $875 at the time - more if you account inflation) as well the national standard of 8-hour work shifts and 5-day work weeks we all commonly love today. His automobile was built with Carnegie's steel, fueled by Rockefeller's gasoline, and constructed with Morgan's electricity.
I have to say, Morgan, Rockefeller, and Carnegie may have been total assholes to the American people when they created the era of the monopoly, but you have to hand it to them for their genius.
If you watched the series, what did you think? |

This has little to do with this so called Bildeburg group and everything to do with three men whose brilliance and cut throat madness was the very reason this nation began to move forward. Of course they didn't create the complete prosperity of America as that title goes to Henry Ford. It wasn't until their twilight years (they got very old and were about to die) that rockefeller, and carnegie decided to be good men and competed to see who can spend the most in terms of donating to charities and such. The death of Morgan inspired them to be good men in the end and found redemption. Sure, they were pricks in the beginning, but they at least helped America learn what wa ts wrong with their nation. |

Boss Dirge wrote:So you think Rockefeller was a great person? Unless you secretly hate minorities too you should probably remember that much of their vast fortune was made by selling American steel to the German war machine throughout much of WW2, ensuring that American steel killed Americans throughout the end of WW2.
Edison was a total hack compared to Tesla, and the only reason he's attributed with greatness is because he bowed to pressure and found a way to sell electricity where Tesla wanted everyone to just have it for free.
I don't know a lot about JP Morgan to be honest but I am sure they can't be much better. There is simply no way to amass that much wealth without being a total asshat to everyone around you.
I am glad they are all dead, I just wish their legacies were too.
Wow dude, hate much?
First off, these were business men. Nationalism was not in their vocabulary. Profits was all that they cared for until they actually grew very old in the end. Also, their legacy (as in their families if you were referring to them) doesn't deserve your hate just because you don't agree with the founders. It's like Adolf ******'s descendants (yes, he has descendants to this day) suffering the stigma and constant threat of others because of what their ancestor did even though they practically regret being associated with him at all let alone coming from his seed.
As of today, the Rockefeller Foundation is known for donating massive amounts of money to charity while Andrew Carnegie's legacy has poured countless dollars into the creation of the Carnegie Libraries around the country. Because of their actions at the very end of their lifespan (I'm not talking about what they did when they first started) the US grew stronger and was able to defeat the Germans in WW2 and later the Japanese. |

What was name of series, i wouldnt mind checking out. History Channel series, The Men Who Built America In my opinon, they were not that great for humanity. Sure they amassed wealth, but off the backs of others. But hey that's the world we live in today I guess. The only one that actually did something good for man was Henry Ford with officializing the 5 day work week with 8 hr days. Some of these guys got huge amounts of money by stamping out any competition with the wealth they continued to generate from making the labor force behind it suffer.
Which is what I hinted earlier. The only time those three men actually contributed to society is when they got extremely old. Rockefeller was 97 years old when he died while Carnegie died somewhere in his 80's. According to the History Channel, these guys gained more money than all of the current-day richest men and women we have in the world. These guys were not just rich beyond belief. They were stupidly rich that even Donald Trump would trade in his fake hair to be like that. |
