I THINK YOUR CAPS LOCK BUTTON IS BROKEN, MUCH LIKE YOUR LOGIC!
THE VEHICLES HAVE BOTH FIRST AND THIRD PERSON VIEWS.
FPS STANDS FOR FIRST PERSON SHOOTER, IT WOULDN'T BE IF YOU WERE PRIMARILY IN THIRD.
EVE WILL NEVER COME TO PS3 BECAUSE PS3 IS HIGH MAINTENANCE WITH VERY LITTLE REWARD. |

EVE is PC only and wont be coming to PS3/PS4 anytime soon but you never say never it could happen its not likely but still it could happen . far as 3rd Person View would be awesome idea for this game and make it optional matches were not everyone whose afraid of getting beat down by 3rd Person View wouldn't have to join it but to those that wanted it . i think it would be great way for them to get more added fans to this game as well . ive said this before but it didn't get much notice but still would be a grand idea . |

How many functions does a player in EVE need to manage at one time?
How many keys on the keyboard are used by an EVE player on a regular basis?
Maximum number of functions a PS3 controller can fill without use of any button as a "shift" function is 16. INCLUDING the start and select keys, which are needed for basic menu/chat functionality.
Using L2 and R2 both as "shift" functions which alter the effect of the face buttons, you're still only up to 22 buttons.
Obviously, you have the analog sticks to control... well... one to control aiming, and MAYBE you could use the other for throttle control on a spaceship. But for everything - EVERYTHING else a ship can do... 22 buttons. Some of which are awkward to reach in a hurry, and would have to be assigned to less important functions. and 8 of which require a dual button-press to access.
Mouse/Keyboard has a SLIGHT advantage there. If the game has anything remotely resembling a complex control scheme, it's NOT going to work.
EVE on PS3? As cool as that might be, I'm sorry, but I just don't see it happening.
I CAN see War Barge pilot being a viable job in DUST though, with an appropriate control scheme being developed. There are ways to make it work. Just not on the level of complexity you can get with some of EVE's larger ships.
And third-person view DOESN'T play well with first-person. It's either-or. You CAN'T have it both ways and still be fair. First person is, in and of itself, a direct disadvantage. You have a MUCH more limited view of your surroundings, and actually have a LESS realistic amount of awareness than you do with third-person games. In a third-person game with a relatively close camera (not over-shoulder close, but not the massively zoomed out views some games give), you have a fairly accurate representation of the area in which a real person would be aware of their surroundings. The trick with third person is that you can stand NEAR a corner and have FULL visibility around that corner without needing to expose yourself. In first-person, you don't have that luxury. If you're not visible to the enemy, they won't be visible to you either. If some people are playing first-person, and others third-person, anyone using the third-person view has a direct and provable advantage.

Anyone who has played Planetside will oppose third person views in an FPS because it leads to lame cheese. The Jackhammer was one of the more hated weapons in that game because someone with one could sit behind a corner with the third person camera active, allowing them to see everything around the corner without exposing themselves at all, and could thus leap out in front of the 3 people coming down the hall at them with no warning, gun them all down, and then go right back to hiding with the third person camera again. |

Point. & Click. You don't have "point and click" as an option on PS3 either.
So add the number of on-screen buttons that you'll need to access during flight. |

Eve as a client might actually come to the ps3 or ps4 one day. What I'd like is for the vita Dust app to come to the ipad, so I can use it there in game. Having a franchise on three separate platforms, makes it quite expensive and tedious to set up. Dust 514 and the vita app should also come to the PC. And through Steam too, not MS Store, please... |

An important fact about Eve on PS3 is that the resourses on PS3 can't handle Eve. Minimum RAM required for Eve is 1 GB, and recommended is 2 GB. PS3 offers 256 MB with an additional 256 MB virtual RAM for a total of 512 MB.
The only requirement met that I can find is the processor. Intel Pentium is required, a single core at 1.5 Ghz (minimum) or dual core with 2 Ghz (recommended). PS3 has Cell Broadband Engine wich is a single core at 3.2 Ghz.
Other than this, I was unable to find system stats for the PS3 on a cursory search. |

Be patient and have faith in the future. With the gameing companies and computer technology advancing I'm sure we will able to do this and much, MUCH more. I can assure you that we are about to hit another golden age in gameing. So you can rest well , and sleep tight because you know that a new, better, generation of gameing and computer technology is just around the corner. You should gather as much energy as possible because you know as much as I do once This glorious golden age of gameing shines down apon us. Gamers will become a nocturnal species. |

-This is actually a very cool idea (Cap Locks and third person view aside)
Why couldnt Eve Work? I use a keyboard with my Ps3 while web surfing on the TV... Personally I think this would be fantastic.
I would love to be able to play some Eve on the big screen occasionally and then when shackled to my desk be able to play my account from the PC.
-The RAM issue could be fixed (FF14 has far higher requirements than EVE is going to have a cross platform PS3/PC client) -IDK, I like it... Need some PS3 games with some depth- Right now if you are not into nonstop ACTIONZ then the PS3 has little to offer in the way of "games"

But anyway Eve is most certainly not going to come to PS3. Regardless of whether or not it has the capabilities of running it, the console climate is just a bad fit for Eve. Not to mention that the graphical requirements keep increasing, but the game itself will never be compatible with a controller, and no PS3 game could ever work with keyboard and mouse as a requirement. |

But its different genres of games for different type of gamers. Personally I hate "Action" and "Button masher" games but love a good turn based strategy game- That said, there are some "Actiony games" I very much enjoy. The same could be said of Eve. Once getting past the initial learning curve it can be "edge of your seat" tense- There are moments in that game where I have never been so stressed out over the chance of a potential loss.
-You just never really know if you would like it until you try. And with Eve "trying" means playing for at least a couple weeks and learning the system. |

Sony no longer makes the clip-on keyboard. Which was never very good to begin with (I have one). And the Logitech one isn't made by Sony. And it's still a non-Move peripheral, so the core of my argument isn't changed even if they did start making their own keyboards again. |
