Hello all I would like to start a corp, but not any ordinary one. I would like one that enforces the German Co-Determination laws.
For all yall uneducated in the co-determination you can wikipedia it or read this little overview
- half of the company board members must be elected by the workers
- Only applies to a company with 2000+ workers
So to conform this into Dust terms: 2 board members per 10 workers (mercenaries in this case) 50% of board must be worker approved regardless of corp size. Maximum board size: 15 Just throwing this idea out there. Comment or hate. It's all good |

We're doing something along those lines, but not identical. We have a senate that acts like the board you're talking about. Check us out here. |

Specify
For the other guy I checked it out and looks like a government and it didn't rightly talk about any processes, but said it was democratic. |

So if you have a 2,000 man corp, you are gonna have 200 board members?
Seems slightly inefficent |

So you are in a war, and you take in new recuirts to fight that war, Half of the new recruits are spies for the enemy corps, and they cast all their votes for there own spies, then, your corp now has a director level spy who empties your corp wallet, and corp hanger, now you have nothing.

Scams using Corps set up like this have existed in EVE for a very long time. I don't know where the story is at, but specifically I read about a corp set up in this style that purchased incredibly expensive BPO's for manufacturing. After taking investment, a board member convinced the Corp to open up more stock in the corp, allowing him to purchase a majority share and gift all the items the corp controlled to himself. As DJINN states, it's only going to take a few members voting for their own interest (or that of another entity) to totally wreck house. But whatever, play the game as you see fit. |

I remember that story.
There was a core group who jointly owned the Corporation. They were the only shareholders, and controlled everything.
One of these people said they should sell off new shares to make up about a 45% share in the Corp. If those shares were picked up by a group of outsiders, then the core leadership wouldn't have to change, because they still held more than 50% of the Corporation between them.
Everyone agreed that it was a good way to raise some extra capital in a hurry, which would mean they could fast-track some new plans they were working on.
Then the guy who suggested it bought ALL the shares for himself, giving him more than 50% control of the Corp and effectively handing the Corp over to him completely. |
