While I won't say that communication from CCP couldn't improve, a lot of the stuff I see repeating in this thread could be solved with the players taking more initiative.
If you want to help ensure CCP gets enough feedback on everything they should, pay attention to the topics on the forums. Notice the trends and what people are talking about and using, and try using different things and give feedback on that! A lot of people say "Well we're here to test" but not all of them do much more than play the game as if it were any other. I'm not saying the people above me in the thread do this, but the large majority of the people in the beta are just here to play the game and be additional load for the servers to make sure the servers can handle it. They don't post on the forums or send bug report petitions, etc.
Compared to the people who don't contribute, anyone (Okay, mostly anyone) who participates in the forums is doing an awesome job to help CCP make dust awesome.
That said - Their community team only really consists of two people, CmdrWang and Frame, and (among other things) a lot of their job is reading pretty much every thread + topic and summarizing the weekly goings-on of the forums to present it to the design teams in a meeting. If they responded to every thread they read (Which would be every post) Can you imagine how much longer their job would take? Not to mention, that they might not have an answer or response at the time they read the thread. For example, if a thread is asking about how an AR might be changed next build. Community team does not really participate too much in design, so they might not know the specifics of what the design teams actually did, only what they discussed in meetings, until the design team gives them solid info for them to use in an information release (be it a forum post, media release, whatever)
Design teams have an NDA, as mentioned above. There's not a lot they can say without getting a green light from the higher ups first.
Personally, I'd like to see them post a little more too. But, I do think they are doing the best they can with what they've currently got. |
