Every gun in this game except for the Swarm Launcher is more useful than an AR. It is just that the AR is the most used gun in the game that everyone complains. All weapons have their uses. The trick is to play to a weapons' strength, not whine about a perceived weakness that isn't a weakness if you know how to properly use the weapon. The only exception to this is the Swarm Launcher. The tracking is currently beyond broken on it, and with CCP taking out dumb fire mode, the increased splash damage you can get with SL skill is pointless. |

Thank you, and that's why I opened it up to the forums. I've spent enough time in logic/science classes to know that a sample size of 1, no matter how rigorous, is going to contain inherent flaws when applied as a generalization.

I agree that other weapons than the AR are capable of being more effective when used intelligently, although some do take a very high amount of skill - most of all in my experience has been the Burst HMG because between bursts you are highly vulnerable what with having to be in a heavy suit that can't move around very fast, even with kinetic upgrades, although it does become less of an issue for sure.
Quick sidenote - the HMG doesn't have a 'heavy feel' to it at the moment; aiming left and right should start slower and quickly build up speed, that way you'd have that sense of mass to the weapon. |
