Let me list the things I am tired of reading about in these forums:
1. "Snipers are OP! Please nerf them!" - By now we should all know that this is going to happen. We get it. Most, if not all, agree that there needs to be a change.
2. "The player base Dust is dwindling!" - Why should that surprise anyone? This game is a beta, and three (or is it four?) very popular games are/about to be released. That's basic economics... I promise you I'll be playing Black Ops 2 for a while, taking time away from Dust (but eventually, that game will get just as boring as the last, and I'll be right back to Dust).
3. "This game sucks!" - That's a nice opinion you have there, why are you still playing?
4. "There are too many bugs, this game sucks! Why haven't you fixed the problems yet CCP???" - Notice the difference between this one and the previous (A reason explaining why this game sucks). Before I state the obvious, I would like to know how many Dust players are programmers? I would be willing to bet that anyone who has made a statement similar to this has never EVEN SEEN a line of code. For those of you that fall into this category, here's what I want you to do: Go download Microsoft C# Express and the XNA framework ( I chose these as my example because that is currently what I'm using, and for any beginner programmer It's pretty simple) and start programming your own game. When writing any program, game or not, you run into bugs or features that cannot simply be added or fixed by changing a value of one variable. And even if it can, it's sometimes hard to find that ONE variable.
On top of all that, CCP is creating Dust with UDK (Unreal Engine). Anyone ever used that? It's got a sick learning curve. And the logic used in UDK isn't even a real programming language (Unreal Script).
All of this is a moot point, anyways. CCP doesn't have to hand out excuses for "taking too long". Frankly, they don't have to tell YOU anything. YOU signed up for a beta. YOU have the privilege to TEST (by playing). To CCP, this in no more about a fun game and maintaining a player base right now. You know why? Because it's not done. And given the history of CCP, this game will never be done. Not to them. Even after release, it will only grow.
To some all of this up: Be patient, or leave. This beta is not about you. It's about creating a game. |

Django Quik wrote:Totally get what the OP is saying - too many people are b*tching and whining about things wrong with this game and saying it sucks. This is a game in BETA. It is nowhere near ready yet and so much will change before release NEXT YEAR. It doesn't matter if you don't like the game - CCP is not letting you test the game to find out your opinion; it is getting you to test it to check for bugs and identify balancing problems.
The game is still well in the pre-release phase and lots will change but it won't happen overnight, so quit being so damn impatient. There'll be another build soon after the tournament is over and you'll all have a lot more other stuff to b*tch about then.
Thanks for that. And also, I do feel better now... I hate reading posts where every other reply is "I quit, this sucks"..... But, now I feel better. Just needed to blow off some steam. |

That's just it... They don't have anything worth delivering yet. They don't have to test on a closed beta player base. They don't NEED you. You are not that important. Infact, you are VERY insignificant. (Well, as far as this beta is concerned atleast).

Sure, they can't make everyone happy, but they can at least look at the big problems and reduce them to the point where they aren't problems anymore and more like annoyances.
I remember first playing DUST and getting on the forums to see all these threads about tanks being OP. They changed some stuff around and made AV powerful again. Then people complained about AV being too powerful and they changed that as well. If you have been paying any sort of attention, people hardly complain about these topics anymore.
Right now, CCP is most likely trying to work on adding additional features to the game. Instead of balancing what we have now, they want to add other features to see if that balances the game more.
Imagine if you were to sort out 10 mini packs of m&ms by color, then record how many there were. You wouldn't open up just one, separate them, count them, record them, then open up another. You would dump them all out on the table to sort and count them as a whole instead of individually. Right now we have different colored m&ms in different piles and everyone wants to sort them out right now instead of looking at the big picture.
There will be player dropped installments, MCC's actually moving around the battlefield, more eve player interaction, additional modules and vehicles, and just all together more stuff. CCP wants to get more stuff into the game instead of spending all their time focusing on our problems. I respect that, and am excited to see what sort of updates they have for the future.
You kind of reiterated part of my point. I'm all for feedback, and bug reporting. That's why we are here. We are not here to complain about all the things "We" think is wrong with this game. And we need to be patient with CCP. There methodology may be slower than we want. |

I've been programming C++ for 3 years I also do UNIX, and occasionally DOS. what you are doing is just cruel, if anyone actually attempts to write a game in C++ they will be met with nothing but failure. even something on half the scale of DOOM 1. at least give them java or python.
Did you just call Java easy?
Haha, if I were to recommend a first language, I would say Ruby. Or C++, if you're daring.
I like C#. It's pretty easy. I'm currently working on some 2D stuff in XNA. |

No, I didn't call java easy, at all, ever. but I like java better for object oriented coding(from my rather limited experience) than C++ .[/quote]
Ah, gotcha... Yeah, I agree with that.
