R'ahz Lupo wrote:Something more akin to a certain game about a Battle... on a Field... 3...? I would have to agree, though. I get that we are all mercenaries and such, but you should get more SP rewards for helping your squad/team. Where is the incentive for dropping a nanohive, repairing a friendly suit, setting up a great spawn location? Even if the bonus is only 10 points, I would be happy.
Nanohives already GIVE +10 for "friendly resupply" when someone in your team (OTHER than yourself) uses them.
Repair Tools were being exploited for stupid amounts of WPs, so the devs are looking into a fix, and in the meantime, have "hotfixed" the problem by removing WP gains from the Tools until they can fix it properly.
And if you use the map as Squad Leader, or if you hold R2 then click R3 (pressing the right stick, for those who don't know), it lets you set orders. If you set an attack or defend order, on an objective, player or vehicle, any actions your squad members perform near that marker will earn them bonus WP. |

Ziero01 wrote:As Garret points out, Squad Leaders already have the ability to highlight targets, areas and other players as things for their squad to focus on that when other Squadmates perform actions near them they get bonus points. The problem isn't a lack of mechanic, the problem is a lack of knowledge ABOUT said mechanic. I know when I'm Squad Leader, I make sure to keep something set as a Defend point and any Squad Member who does ANYTHING within the radius of said point gets bonus points.
As for the "Spawn on Squad" thing, there are equipment called Drop Uplinks and they're as close as you're going to get. Use them. If you have Aurum you can buy a Blue Print Militia version and have a permanent free option to put a spawn point wherever you want. And on top of that, if teammates spawn on this uplink, you get 25 points a pop.
Next time I have a good Squad Leader, I'm thinking I should try setting a Nanohive on top of our Defend objective then run off, to see if that gives me the WP bonus. I know that shooting enemies near the marked objective when you're not gets extra WP, and that shooting enemies while you're near the objective but they're not also works. Not sure if the same rules apply for Nanohives though. |

I set them all over the map and get little WP rewards all the time, the game sends you a pop-up message each time someone uses your hive and it says how much WP you get.
I'm not talking about the basic +10 WP, I'm talking about BONUS WP for doing it near a marked objective. Not sure if you get extra or not, and not sure of the requirements if you can do so. Would be interesting to find out. |

R'ahz Lupo wrote:Hmmmm.... I suppose since I have been playing the game for less than 24 hours and have not ran into anybody that used the squad leader functions yet, I must be a troll or stupid. I mean, it's pretty blatantly obvious - the tutorial obviously explained those things and the reward system. ... Oh, wait no, you're just a douche
So you've been playing for less than 24 hours, and are posting suggestions for how things you haven't personally tested, need to be changed?
I'm pretty sure there's a word for that, and I don't think it's "intelligent" - you might want to look it up. |

R'ahz Lupo wrote:Well, I'm not the OP. I have limited experience with the game and noted that you did not receive xp for repairs or stopping hackers or reversing virus uploads, etc. I have not been squad leader yet, nor have I met anybody that has used the leader functions. So, I find a post about more rewards needed. Seems like a fairly logical conclusion to be drawn from the data I had. Perhaps I shouldn't have posted without testing everything myself(rather than relying on the post of another), but, surely you can be wrong without being stupid or *shudders* a troll.
However, replying with such condescending negativity is definitely still a douche move...
+1 for that.
Well said. |

R'ahz Lupo wrote:Thank you. By the way, your reply to my first post near the top was very helpful. I just did not have the time to reply due to work... It makes sense that the repair reward would be removed because of abuse, but are they looking into tweaking it, maybe? Also, if I may ask, what's the difference between SP and WP?
The current removal of WP rewards for repairs is a temporary "hotfix" not a permanent solution, but altering how the system works will take more effort than simply removing it. CCP have said they're looking into options for future builds, but I haven't seen any specific timeframe on when to expect repair rewards to return.
WP is "War Points" which are the numbers that pop up during a mission (the "+50 kill" and "+10 Team Resupply" messages). At the end of a battle, your total WP for the match is shown and used to rank you within your team (it doesn't account for your K/D except in the sense that kills get you WP).
SP is "Skill Points" and they're also awarded every match, but you ALSO accumulate "passive SP" just by having a character on the server (although from what I've seen, you only get passive SP on one character at a time). They're the points you spend in the Character Sheet to upgrade your character. |

R'ahz Lupo wrote:Ah... Is there any correlation between WP earned and SP? Given the huge SP requirments for pushing upgrades into the upper tiers, I'm much more focused on that rather than my ranking within the team - unless there is an advantage to high WP...?
Squads earning large amounts of WP in a short time get to call in orbital strikes.
And in-game, your ISK and SP earnings are influenced to some degree by your WP earnings. |
