+1 to you, Kazeno, but I have something to question:
Kazeno Rannaa wrote:ambush, and even to this day I feel does NOT call for vehicles, especially if it is supposed to be the lite version of the game to bring in more casual players.
You think the casual will want to play a second time after getting stomped on a close quarters map by a tank?
Just had a match a little while ago where my team called 2 LAVs over the course of a very drawn-out, but very close, battle, while the other team called in 1 LAV, 2 Dropships and a Sagaris.
We lost by time limit with the clone count at 26-29.
3 kills decided the match. Took out their Dropship with a combination of Swarms (I did that) and Forge Gun fire. The Forge landed the killing blow as the Dropship was getting out of my reach. The Sagaris spent half the match pinned down in a corner where it couldn't afford to come out and attack because of all the AV firepower that would turn its way as soon as it moved, and their lone LAV also died to my Swarm Launcher (although its driver managed a well-timed bail, which was pretty impressive to watch).
My team had NOBODY coordinating, except that I dropped a couple of uplinks that helped people to control their spawn locations to some degree (and planted them near Supply Depots that had been dropped in). The other team had 2 premade squads who you could pick from the fact that there were 2 groups of 4 players from the same Corp.
Moral of the story: Vehicles don't always rule the map. Even HAVs in Ambush. |

They didn't lose.
They won. By time limit and only 3 kills, but they won. And it looked like 2 squads with people from 2 different corps. While the squadmates of each were working together, they were coordinating ONLY within their squad, not with the other squads. If they had, it probably would have gone much worse for us.
Also, pretty sure the DS that survived was a random, and while I never saw any indication that it got shot down (and I was looking because I ran AV the whole match), I only saw it once, and it was using BLASTERS. |
