I still think that the links to EVE online etc are all brilliant ideas but to me it seems like so much thought has gone into these ideas and making this all work that the makers of the game have forgotten that first and foremost this is a first person shooter.
It is all a bit slow and laboured (no I am not expecting Call Of Duty style play) and while i realise that this is not just another MAG type game I think the makers could really learn something from the style of play that gamers experience in MAG. For me there is just something lacking with this game, OK it is still in BETA testing and yes it probably does have a long way to go but I always find the game slightly disappointing to play. I get really excited when i load it up and really look forward to getting into a match and then it all becomes a bit bland and boring.
I also think that unless you have a lot of time on your hands to play this game your never really going to be properly up there and involved with the game and the community. It takes a very long to time to earn points and unlock things and in some ways this is good because it increases the longevity of the game but for those that work full time and have families etc this game just does not allow them to play productively. Always going to be a long way behind and always going to struggle. This is an issue which will lose this game thousands of potential gamers.
All in all I am slightly disappointed, i expected great things from the gameplay and really all we got was a slightly average gaming experience backed up by some potential fantastic ideas.
Regarding being always behind, you'll have that feeling in every game as with less game experience, you obviously will be less efficient. But, Dust has a CAP in how much SP you can gain each week. Thus, you will never end up being miles away behind a huge gamer. Also, you have passive skill points adding up at all times. On that specific point, Dust is pretty balanced. Despite what all those SP farmers will say.
I'll even add something. I consider myself a more than regular player. i have my 2000 kills on this beta and i often compare my SP amount with some of the biggest player in my corp. Such As Traky78 that plays a lot. And we saw yesterday that he has 400K SP more than me in rougly a month of playing. Wich is around 10-12% more SP than i have.
So. When i was saying that overall, hardcores will be rewarded for being hardcore even compared to regular, or regular++ player, i was right. It just doesnt appear in a week like in most games.
