A vote not cast is a vote wasted. It doesn't matter if your candidate doesn't win the election. If you voted at all for any of the presidential candidates, then you participated in the election process and therefore you reserve the right to complain should anything go wrong.
I use to be brainwashed into believing that voting for a independent/third-party candidate is a wasted vote and that I should vote for a democrat or republican because the independent won't have a chance of winning. Then I realized something... if that's true, then wouldn't your democratic/republican candidate be a wasted vote as well if either of them lost the election?
Since then, I decided to vote for Gary Johnson (Libertarian). His views are liked by both sides of the isle. |

^this.
Regular people's votes don't technically matter. . . even though we are all brainwashed that they do. If one candidate gets more votes than the other, in the USA the one with fewer votes can still win.
Todays vote will be so close, i bet 50/50 odds this will happen. . . again.
The constitution needs to be changed to fix this, and i hope someday it is.

Careful with Constitutional Amendments... the Constitution is a baseline for our society and it should not be convoluted. We have state and federal laws for that.

Agreed, caution indeed.
but WOW! [post election] popular vote was close but electoral vote not even-- i am amazed!!! Did not expect that. Clear winner, no ugly recount. Still say popular vote should decide this thing, but today it would have had the same result. I am suddenly proud to be USA.

The only wasted vote was one in which was cast for the opposite party in a locked state. Or for a third party candidate. |

Voting third party is not a wasted vote because voting in general means you participated and therefore you can complain should anything happen. Those who don't have the right to complain are those who decided to stay home and do nothing. |
