I have an assault scrambler on my forge fit. The little bit of extra range has saved my butt on more than one occasion. But yes. Close quarters is tough with a Forge Gun. It's easier when firing from higher ground or when someone's up against the building because you can brush them with splash if you miss, but it's still not as easy as many people apparently think. |

Meh, HAVs arent the problem at the moment. Even a pretty good HAV will fear and get blown up if it eats 2-3 Glux grenades (as most are shield tanked) and 1-2 forge gun shots. This can be a two man job. Or one very dedicated man job.
Real problem is, and it's getting boring to say that over and over, the damn missile turret. This explains the insta-kill, and the spamming. A heavy wouldnt insta die from a blaster, besides it needs short range. Heavy could be OHK by a railgun hit but then the gunner would deserves the kill as he cannot rely on splash damage anymore and it actually requires skill.
But missiles ? easy mode. Press R1 all the time, you wont over-heat, wont run out of ammo, wont damage yourself from firing at your feet, wont get malus from killing teammembers, will probably OHK anyone who's in the splash damage radius.
Until turrets are fixed, especially missiles, and especially light missile turrets. AV part of the game is undebatable.

Ive got just over 1mil SP with this character and its AV only.
My BEST forge fit runs at 44k With the dutty stinking 9k330 Forge, a tech 1 heavy suit with sheild extenders and a armor repairer. I call this my LOLSAGA build, but its great for suppression of dropships and scares the feck out of HAV's.
My basic fit is still a tech 1 suit with the basic forge gun and that runs at 24k a fit. I have by no means Uber duber gear but i manage to scare most tanks or keep that dropship busy repairing whilst the rest of my team runs around like headless chickens.
What this post is trying to point out is that YOU CAN DO IT IF YOU PUT YOUR BACK INTO IT
It makes all the difference when i can keep a dropship or HAV "busy" even whilst picking up the odd Infantry kill. Find a good logi and love him. |
