How I Envisioned this Game to be I entered Dust 514 when Playstation Home started offering beta codes out for playing the mini-game called 'Slay'. I got my key, entered the Beta, and bought the merc pack. I first saw the trailer of this game and imagined how cool it would be to have frontal assaults with actual frontlines, dropships hot dropping people into battle, and all-in-all a great teamwork based game, almost exactly like the beginning of this video.
{]-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------[}
Where I Perceive this Game to be Heading I know a lot of things have changed since that video and I do take it into consideration, but whenever I play Dust now, I get the feeling that we use less tactics and a more 'whoever has more people in the fight' or a 'who can strafe better' attitude during engagements. Let's take 'Manus Peak' for example. If my team holds C and are assaulting A, I just see everyone that spawns head directly to A, get's killed, and repeats until A is captured.
Dropships have turned into more of a gunship rather than an actual troop transport. I know part of this is caused by the power of the turrets (Mainly missiles) but can also be blamed on other aspects of the game. For one, there's no where on the map that a dropship can get to that a free LAV can't. Whether it be the AV or the size of the maps (Which I know will get bigger), LAV's can get there safer and if not faster.
HAV's have turned into killing machines (I drive tanks BTW). They almost have the mobility of a LAV with more tank and offensive power. Sure, they should be able to tear ground-infantry up, but they shouldn't be able to remove themselves from battle whenever someone throws a punch back at them.
{]-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------[}
Note No this is not a doomsday thread and I will still be playing the game, but I am going to be posting a lot more suggestions in the feedback forum. Alright I am ready for the criticizing to start. |

HAVs are not killing machines and neither are dropships its just missiles almost all vehicle problems atm stem from passive vehicle skills + missiles made 2 posts on the feedback section addressing these |

Debacle I agree with part of your Visions.
The Game as it is at the moment feels like Team Deathmatch regardless if it is ambush or skirmish. We are getting the same story of running around in circles and 6 snipers on the hills like in every other FPS.
I really loved Plains Map feeling with that 2 part play. There was something that is missing now. I know we are in beta without structures yet and dropping 2 bunkers on tight spots and delivering infantry there might change how the maps will feel.
Tactics in a pub matches will never exists if the game is not prodding players into doing something. Let's look at logi bros. I almost never see one rezzing people or repairing - there is at least couple of threads why.
There is no need for gunner to jump out and rep a tank or dropship. Same story with Heavy - there is no need to jump out with forge and add that firepower to the mix. Jumping out would get you killed for no reason.
So on the design end we need that Hot Zone drop feeling. We will see if CCP will deliver.
-- HAVs and Dropships are another story. Dropships vere pretty balanced if not underpowered last build due to Swarms doing it's job. SL main function should be AA and right now is for killing LAVs only and making pilots laugh.
HAVs in my opinion require only minor adjustments - like accesible anti HAV vehicles. Every weapon or vehicle should have strong counter to it othervise we will be running with the same AR due to QQ more. |

Disagree with tanks, I have a 900 K tank that was nearly killed yesterday in a game where the other team was being red lined. They put an OB on me twice, only reason I survived was cause match ended right there. |

Yes because armor is unloved has no active resists gets hurt more due to buffs and that missiles **** armor and hybrid weapons are useless when compared to missiles
Shield and missiles is the only way to go atm because of the current situation |

Yea, they need to give armor hella love. If I want more armor, I'm slower. If I want more shield... nothing bad happens. If I want to fill my high slots, I can choose Shields, Shields, or more Shields(I think they added afterburners here, but that was after my TANKS! phase). My low slots have to be split between armor, damage mods, scanners, powergrid and CPU boosts, and MORE shield mods.
Also... it's easy to destroy a tank because the cheap ones juuuuust can't survive two artillery strikes? I'm sorry, but that sounds mental. Slow them down, maybe give them more HP to compensate for the slowing, but slow the kittens down. |

Public matches will never have the grand strategy you see in the video. That requires organization and that means coporations.
Corp battles have a far different feel with more of the assets being used in a tactical way, with squads composition carefuly thought out, and with a clear chain of command.
Public matches lack all that. It's also the reason that vehicles seem overpowered. A vehicle forces the occupants to work as a unit, but the opposing force isn't. A corp would have an AV squad that would quickly counter the vehicle, but randoms never quite gel and it wanders the field unchallanged. |

missiles do need a damage nerf tho and they need a reload function blasters and rails both can overheat, rails also have a charge up time Laser turrets when added will have an overheat so why are missiles the only thing without some sort of proper delay?
u should have to "reload" after u fire each payload |

I would like more attack/defense maps with stages. The first skirmish was awesome. Now its running in a circle. We need more players per match with actual frontlines instead of a crazy FFA. As a heavy, half the time I spawn across the map from everyone else, or in front of 3 enemies. More realistic front lines would be a lot more fun as a Heavy because I wouldn't have to run for twenty minutes only to be slaughtered from behind.
Right now, it doesn't really give me that "grand scale warfare" feeling. |
