why is it that when i look at the higher level requirement items, higher isk cost items, aurium cost items, that they all have the same stats? are the numbers incorrect? or are they all the same with just diferent costs and requirements? for example, the lower level requirement heavy dropsuits and snipers versus higher level ones, as well as most or all of the other modules? |

The suits get more cpu and pg and more slots. The sniper rifle gets more damage, +10% for adv and +20% for proto. They also require more cpu and pg to fit. Most stats stay the same. |

Some changes aren't listed- like how advanced laser rifles build up damage faster |

Regardless there is a massive problem with the scaling of the items in-such that a proto-suit will die just as fast to someone toting around an Assault - Frontline suit. MAR (Militia Assault Rifle) does enough damage to take down a prototype suit in under a second assuming the user is competent.
It's a tough thing to balance because you want users to feel like the upgrades are statistically relevant and have variation. You also don't want there to be such a disparity between starter gear and prototype equipment that Protogear becomes "noobcrushers."
Ultimately we've been backed into an almost corner in terms of the design space... it's a problem. |

Prototype suits have more slots and higher PG/CPU. That means you can fit better/more defensive items like armor plating or shield extenders. That means your survivability can, in fact, be much higher than in a militia suit. So I'm really not sure what the issue is. Yes, the prototype suits don't have by default more survivability, but that isn't anything like the full story. Using proto gear against someone in militia has a very obvious advantage going for the proto user. |

Militia gear v Proto gear isn't even relevant, I run a tech II assault dropsuit with almost 385 shields (One cpu needed for last extender, which would push it to this or close) and somewhere around 180 armor, with my starter fit, or even the best "Militia" gear I could find I would be running close to 170 shields and 220 armor, top it all off with the 3x faster (Roughly) shield recharge rate on top of the tech II suit v militia dropsuit, there's a reason why I can quite easily go 20-2, sometimes flawless almost all day long and why militia v me is a very bad idea. |

from what i can see the sniper rifles do not do any more damage unless you go the charge route, in which case all levels of the sniper rifle do the same amount of damage, and the heavy difference in the heavy drop suit that requires lv 2 and costs 13k isk vs the one that costs 250k isk and requires lv 5 in 1 high slot and 1 low slot, and the modules in this game suck so....
what i would like to see is perhaps the lv 1 dropsuit has 1 medium slot and 1 high slot then the lv 2 dropsuit has 2 more slots, 1 high & 1 medium, 2 high or 2 medium, depending on your faction. then lv 3 is 2 more slots lv 4 is 2 more slots lv 5 another 2 slots for a total of 8+ 1 medium and 1 low. so perhaps 8 high slots and 2 low slots, 8 low slots and 2 high slots, or 6 & 4, 5 & 5, etc...
in addition, the higher level dropsuits should have higher cpu and powergrid like they do, that setup seems to be pretty decent, but with higher cpu and powergrid to account for the extra slots
militia sniper rifle=185 damage, lv 5 requirement is 188 damage, difference is 50 rounds/minute vs 100 rounds/minute, idk about the experimental above it, dont even want to test it because of the crapiness of the charge rifles, i cant tell which ones are charge and whi |

I think this answers the question posed.
The stats of the suits don't provide the boost in shield/armour, but it provides the CPU/PG and crucially the extra module slot which does. The better suits also allow you to forgo having to use fitting mods. |

Those are different MODELS of sniper rifle. One is a tactical, one is standard model. Look at the level IV sniper rifle and tell me the damage is the same |
