I dissagree with most of what you have said
1.I have a forge gun and I can 1 hit low level drop ships and 2 hit the high level ones. If you where to take the time and do the math on the DS health and shields vs the different lvl forge guns you would see they are very easy to shoot down. You just have to spec for vehicles.
2.A high level tank well equipped with high level gear is going to cost you 2mil ISK minimum if not far far more. That player has had to spec for tank or DS costing him when he has to play in a drop suit with militia gear and getting whipped by everyone who has specked full assault rifle.
3. A tank or DS is a squad/team asset. that means it takes 3-4 players to properly operate it at full capacity. Thus it should take a team/squad effort to bring it down.
4. A swarm launcher is a light anti vehicle weapon meant for LAV's and maybe in a pinch MAV's. everyone can carry one from the lightly armored scout to the medic. if it was as good as a forge gun it would be op and make tanks redundant. Plus its so lightweight and simple to operate if it where improved too much it would unbalance tanks when you compare how much that tank costs compared to that swarm launcher. BTW you could get a LVL 5 swarm launcher and max the dmg and you would have far better results, but your prob to busy specking killing players.
5.The tanks and DS are not the problem the players are. 99.9% of people specked to kill other players not deal with armor and DS. So almost everyone has invested to kill other players. if you dropped about 2-3 mil sp into anti armor I can assure you you would have far better results killing tanks. But people want the high kill score early in the game so they spec to kill drop suits. thus the guy who sat there and built his veh sp simply just outmaneuvered you. you brought a nova knife to a sniper rifle fight? Does not make the sniper rifle op just makes you a little short sighted.
6. I have specked to deal with tanks and DS so I can safely say they can be killed if you have the right tools for the job. To kill a heavy high lvl tank you need a hvy high level weapon, its dumb as dirt, easy, simple.
7. Speed over HP? its job is to get people to the fight and get out quick. Quick insertion and extraction has been doctrine for military transports since Vietnam, trying to shrug off damage has not. A DS should never be able to "tank" damage.
8. the only thing I am inclined to say is op or wrong about dropships is the fact that when they reach 0 health they fall from the sky instead of exploding immediately this means the pilot and passengers can jump to safety before it crashes and explodes. that is wrong. as the pilot and passengers get away scott free (i may need correcting on this but that's how I see them die) if it has 0 health it should explode midair. If it has 10% health it should start falling and have engines failure.
In closing points to remember. Again high level AT skills needed for high level armor and DS! 3-4 to man them 3-4 players to take it out easy. I can kill high lvl tanks and ds by myself with no support on a ambush map so I don't have sympathy for you and i cant even imagine how much easier it will be when i get my mic and can tell my squad mates to cover me. you need to spec to fight them so upgrade your AT weapon and get dmg mods. they take more dmg if you hit the sides and the rear so hit there. be in a spot where you can finish the job and they cant get away.
I hope that helps..........
BTW rift corp is looking for guys so if someone reads this and wants to join us check out our recruitment page https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=375933#post375933 |

Add the eject button Then it'll just turn into griefing, dumping blues into the redzone, past the extended aerial vehicle safe zone which will also be red when you drop, and they'll have no chance in hell of making it out in time.
Could just make it so you cant eject in or near red zones. |
