This game is not nearly ready for release.
Whine, cry, accuse CCP of having "no faith", accuse them of "avoiding other game releases" or being scared or whatever. but the fact of the matter is, this game needs a lot of work still. a LOT. It's not worth it to rush the game out the door and have it die because of bugs and gameplay issues like most MMOs do these days.
and there is a LOT that has yet to be tested. PVE, Drones, full EVE Integration, Faction Warfare, etc.
if they release the game this holiday season, it will be rushed, sloppy, and it will fail.
Summer 2013 is the right thing to do. Take the time to get it right. Polish and fully test EVERYTHING, then put it out.
If you aren't around when its time for the game to release, then so be it.
CCP is making the right decision in not launching anytime soon. |

The problem is that instead of addressing a gaming website, why not try addressing news like that on your official site first?
Shouldn't the people that are putting the time into testing it have the right to know this information first, instead of getting it secondhand?

@th3rdson
We don't have the right. None of us do. There is no law in Iceland, in the USA, or anywhere in the world that CCP operates in that requires them to post on their official site first rather than on a third party new site. Some would argue that there should be, but we are really not entitled to it. |

CCP is going to release Dust 514 next to another MMO shooter on PS3 (Definace). Not smart if you ask me. |

I entered the beta before the E3 so I have seen 3 builds so far, 4 if I count the one I started with.
Also you are easy to please then because from my point of view the changes are not massive. CCP actually delayed Dust 514 clearly because the changes they made are not enough.
If the changes where massive, really massive, we would have Dust in 2012 not in 2013. |

^^^ SyFy is more popular than EVE anyway.
From what I saw it's seems like a funny game, they have interesting player's abilities (stealth cloak, super speed) , they have thousands of players per map, they have weapon customization, they are open world, they have PVE as well, they said there is no auto aim and that aim is "pixel accurate". Not bad if you ask me.
I will wait and see. |

corp management? bug fixes (admittedly with new ones)? environmental effects? new weapons? vehicle changes?... I mean go look at the "new build" history (if still there) for reference. |

And yet Dust screams mediocrity. Sure they changed something but hey none of that matter when the gameplay is this poor.
They coudl have changed the gamplay, change one thing only so to speak, and won. They instead changed many things but it din't do Dust 514 any good: all the changes they made were in the wrong direction.
Wow CCP added environmental effects: who cares when maps are uninspiring because they are procedurally generated and not designed with gameplay in mind.. CCP added new weapons; who cares when the shooting is poor. CCP added Corp management: it will not matter if Dust fails to be good and to captivate player's interest...and Dust is alienating players so far. |

Maybe to the gullible SyFy viewers. In an unrelated note, the SyFy network lost all respect from me years ago after forcing the cancellations of several good shows (the Stargate series being one of them). They also added in shows that had nothing to do with science fiction (WWE Smackdown, anyone?) and put it in a time slot that hindered the ratings of actually good shows, all while putting in more shows that have terribad CGI and... oh look at me straying off topic. Sorry about that. |

Ok,then as a courtesy to the player base that they are trying to court.
Typically,If a developer doesn't do all they can do to woo their player base, that same player base will respond in protest by not playing their game. |

change one thing? they have changed a million things and still (as always) someone complains. people complained on the halo forums, and that was one of the most refined fps online games i've seen.
the maps are procedurally generated because eventually we will be creating the maps. And it's going to be slowly introduced long after live. bringing a dedicated dev to create maps is adding expense and time they don't have.
they are still fixing the weapons, every time they fix a bug, it changes the effectiveness of every weapon with a roll on effect to others. This will happen every time they fix a bug. That's just how dev work goes, but they still need to add what they think will improve the weapons - not my way but as a dev I can see why they are doing it.
Corp management is a community asset, and although the community is small now we are in closed beta, the community will have a sudden influx when it releases and it's important for ccp to try and cater as best as they can in that period or they will loe users who won't come back.
it's a beta, I don't need to reimind you that we are here to test and tell ccp where it's going wrong. Next build brings in stability changes, imho they shouldn't do any stats changes until the main bugs (hit detection, collision detection, invisible walls etc) are fixed. But there are so many people on these forums whinging it's quite easy to see why they are trying to cater for us with these off the cuff requests. |
