So I had to send back my PS3 Slim after it broke and now (after being refunded) I have the choice of which model to get as a replacement. Currently considering the 12GB Super Slim, but will Dust 514 install and be able to patch with that size storage? I'm only really getting a PS3 for Dust, so I don't really need the extra space as long as Dust works. |

Considering the current file size for codex is just over 6gb (file size has grown with each build) then I would expect the file size to increase to possibly over 15gb once the game gets full launch next year and grows over time. So I don't think 12gb is going to serve you well over time bro |

From my research, you can add a 2.5" drive to the 12GB Super-slim. The SSD is built into the motherboard, so it's actually a bonus.
You need to buy the adapter though http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eETaWcTI3_s |

If you wipe all dust files off your PS3 and redownload, you're sorted. My DUST file went from 6.9gigs two days ago until I reinstalled and now it's 2.7gigs. |

these guys just took an old PS3 HDD and stuck it in the new one, no adapter here, they've got photos.

edit: although now i look at the photos more, i think the adapter is the HDD cradle and usually Sony will give you one for free if you call and ask for it.
the photos do not show a cradle around the drive but i can see where a cradle is needed.
edit2: also Noc, that video totally doesn't show a HDD install lol |

It shows there is an empty HD bay. Just proving expansion, not swapping. |

Although mine is a "fat" PS3, if Sony follows common sense then the slims should still be able to take laptop-sized HDDs. According to other posts, it looks like you're fine. About 4 years back, I got a 320gb HDD, and I want to say that was about $60. They should be a little less now though. |
