Hey guys, so I wanted to make this post because scanning seems to be a less common subject on these forums and I wanted to share my experiences with it so far, as well as hear what anyone else has to say on it.
So far my current scanning skills are: lvl 3 profile analysis, lvl 3 long range scanning, and lvl 3 sensor upgrade. I am also using the advanced active scanner, the advanced profile analysis enhancer module, and 2 militia scanning range modules as well for my scanning scout dropsuit fit.
With this fit as well as others not so scanning focused I seemed to noticed a "trend" in what seems to be the games current scanning mechanics. In some games everything works great. In a recent game I was actually picking up a heavy suit as far out as just shy that middle ring on the radar, PASSIVELY. Using the active scanner worked even better. In what seems like the majority of the games I've been playing however I literally pick up nothing at all, period, including trying to use the active scanner. I have been testing this for the past couple days now and depending on the game I'm in the system either works great or it doesn't work at all.
I've done some searches on these forums for information the past week or so trying to make sure I'm not missing anything but never found too much info and didn't see anything regarding what I've written here. To be honest I didn't look too hard so sorry if this is already common knowledge, I've only been playing this build for a little over a week. Since scanning seems to be a less popular skill set I figured it would hurt to share the info either way.
If anyone has any input or has any questions about scanning please add to the thread. |

Loving the feedback so far guys...

The strange part is that on the exact same map, with the exact same guys the scanner was failing. The only difference was the mood.
I've always wondered if there was some kind of deciding factor for scanning to work or not. Never actually considered it to be dependent on the map "mood" as you put it. Definitely something I'm going to try to keep track of in future games.

That would be amazing!! wouldn't hold my breath though.

Definitely not a bad idea ill go ahead and make the channel 'Scanning.' If a decent number of people join we can try to coordinate something further from there. |

I've used the active scanner, and it's pretty useless, but then again,I really don't have the skills for it. Idk,it seems like if/when it get's fixed,is there anyone that really wants to waste precious SP and an equipment slot on something that has limited benefits?
When the scanning does work (which seems to be dependent on the current game you are in) The active scanner lets you see the enemy team locations on your radar well out side your suits passive radars range. This is not only a huge benefit for you but for your team as well. not only do you see their locations you also see the directions they're facing. Utilizing all of these benefits to your advantage you can decimate the opposite team.
think about it this way; suppose you're playing an RTS and your opponent has fog of war enable but you can see everything he is building and when hes about to attack you. You would have a massive advantage. This is essentially what the active scanner and scanning skills are suppose to supply for you, though not as drastic as the said example.
