Having played many other games with a 6-man or larger squad size, the 4-man ones we have right now seem a little small and underwhelming. I mean, right now we have matches of 4 squads with 16v16, and CCP has already anounced 24v24, so with 6-man squads that would still keep the same squad count.
My bigger worry is when we start getting up into Faction Warfare. Even if 64v64 is the theoretical max, that's a lot of 4 man squads for a commander to be trying to micro-manage. Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing them go up to 8, but I realize that might be a slightly inconvenient number for smaller Corps to field several of. |

Well said Wyvern. I was actuall part of a 5 man squad today [BUG] and the difference with just one more player was noticable. Having a tight group of six to eight working in coordination would be awesome. |

I'd like to explore unlimited squad size. See how that changes the game and what changes the game would need. It could make the larger player count maps more managable. |

Maybe add a squad leader skill to raise the size, people with it trained would be picked as squad leaders by match maker first. This would help prevent people that don't want to and/or now how to use commands being made squad leader. Max squad of 10 at level 5 would be nice, best size for squad is probably lower so most won't train to lv5 unless they have need for large squads. |

Boost squad size or allow corp deployment imo. 4 is a pathetic number.
I'm fairly sure they kept it this is so that public matches aren't totally one sided. If they allowed a higher number of friends to group up, they'll pretty much face roll any competition in public matches.
Hopefully as the game expands we'll have the option to group wiht more friends. |

i would tend to agree with you but i think i know why CCP would want to limite squads to 4 players. It seems that most of the time when we'll use this squad tool, it will be to play quick matches in high sec. Where most "casuals" and "beginners" will play. And i think maybe CCP wants to avoid having those high sec contracts becoming hell for those because they'll end up playing half an organized team each game. That's why low sec and probably ,null-sec have this "contract" system allowing to deploy a full team.
But, personnally, i'd rather be able to deploy full team in each contract.
EDIT: didnt even see that Tyas made the same analysis right before i did ^^ So, +1 |

I agree squads should be larger and 6 is a good number.
On Reimus's point, I wouldn't agree with unlimited, but how about a way to link up 6 mans squads. A squad commander that can invite other's? Raid Leader would be appropriate, while it brings back bad memories there are raid leaders in modern mobile warfare.

It should be based on squad leadership skill, similar to EVE. Maybe it starts at four at level 1 and goes up to twelve at level 5.
Squads should be organized by role, so a tank crew would be a squad of 3, while an infantry squad could be 8-10 or so. |

squad size affects a few things:
Already mentioned, it affects public games. Non-contract ones, that is.
Also, in the current Precision Strike model, larger squads mean you get OB's earlier. In many cases, that would actually mean you get more. |

At first....I wanted to deploy more than 4 in a squad but I realized that there will be an immense amount of pubstomping against randoms if corps deployed half or more than half the team every game.
Larger corporations will be unbearable for randoms. In MAG it was ok because there were 32v32 & 128v128. But in 16v16, it will be really rough
So until they allow for more people in a match...I think we should hold out on more than 4 |
