I have a question, since I was picked by CCP have the emails to prove it and everything when I applied for the beta, technically i would be unpaid temp/ volunteer. Can I use this on my resume or is that a stupid idea?

Fivetimes Infinity wrote:You haven't learned anything useful for employment in the real world by being a Dust beta player. The people reading your resume don't want a pile of dumb crap on there that they have to wade through. Your resume needs to be concise.
If you feel your resume is sparse, then actually go out and start volunteering or whatever. Get a job at a hospital as a volunteer, or at a soup kitchen. Now is the time to start hammering out some quality volunteer entries to put on your resume that show you are committed to something, and are willing to donate your time toward a worthy cause. That's the kind of thing employers (and post-grad programs and basically everyone else) want to see.
Well Yeah, :U I know that I was just asking a question, I know the obvious -.- I dont play this game that much :U |

For instance, say you were the leader of a large Guild in a game, and a popular Guild / game. Esp. if it was sucessfull, people see that as a management type role; some exployers to view that as a skill.
Should you put it there, I have seen people do it and it works, others and it doesn't. Really depends. If you're applying for a job as a guild leader, then sure, past guild leader experience will help. But being a competent, professional, effective leader in an actual, real-life environment is nothing like being a guild leader in a video game. This is another one of those things that, if you find you have room to put it in on your resume, means you need to do more stuff so that you can add worthwhile things to your resume. DarkShadowFox wrote:[Well Yeah, :U I know that I was just asking a question, I know the obvious -.- I dont play this game that much :U So you asked a question you didn't even want an answer to in the first place? Well, I'll tell you what, it isn't your question that's stupid.
wow were mature, name calling? Omg.. wow... |

Cortez The Killer wrote:That wasn't name calling, it was deduction. Does a person looking for a job outside of professional game testing normally put their gaming stats/ accomplishments on a resume? Unless the OP is looking for a direct gaming related job, is the question any less than what the poster claimed it to be?
One of two things is happening.. 1) it's a troll, or 2) somebody is just stupid enough to think this is a valid question.
It was a valid question, I had a question I needed an answer , I got some answers is that so wrong? |
