I don't mind LAVs running people over.
I DO mind when I see them miss and the person still dies. Especially when the person was me.
As in literally watch the LAV shoot past about 2m from me, then freeze in place, screen fogs over with a red tint, and a message pops up (crushed).

The damage to the Dropsuit is based on the mass of the LAV. Large mass + high speed = splat. Damage to LAV should be calculated similarly, based on mass of Dropsuit you're hitting with it. Hit a Scout, and they're barely more than a speedbump. Hit a Heavy, and you'll be hurting too. And the faster you move, the more damage the LAV takes as well as the more it deals. |

Yeah, so much risk... a total militia fit can soak enough damage to run over a swarmer or even a forge gun. And it is free, no skill 1HK vs having 1 of 3 items (you can't shoot the driver from level, in front) and enough time to fire twice. I stand by my riskless statement.
I've seen plenty of Militia LAVs die to a single Swarm just in my playtime today. And you can get a Swarm Launcher on a Starter fitting with 0 cost involved except the SPs to make it effective. You CAN'T get your LAV capable of surviving that Swarm without paying for it.
And I haven't seen a Militia fit that can survive the Forge Gun or AV Grenade.
I mentioned shooting out the driver because I saw my girlfriend do so in an older build. Haven't checked to see if it still works now. Guess not. |
