Last 3 matches I was in, I watched 6 HAV drivers exploit the redzone (sadly 4 of those were on the same team I was), firing from well behind the boundries of the map, and backing around a corner where anyone persuing them dies due to the boundry. Sadly, I have only seen two HAV drivers actually use his tank rather than cowering in the safety of his red-zone.
I understand that an HAV is expensive, but hiding inside your red zone so you are at 0 risk is an exploit, plain and simple.
Perhaps cutting the HAV draw distance would eliminate the "redline sniper tank", I know that eliminating the boundry line so that anti-vehicle troops can run them down when they fall back behind that cover would.
Making it so vehicle turrets cannot fire from inside their own team's "safe" zone would be an effective fix as well.
A removal of any cover in the red-zone a vehicle can hide behind would likewise work, but would also make it impossible to recover once your team is red-lined, as there would not be adequate infantry cover either.
Redline snipers are annoying when they use a sniper rifle, but at least they can be killed, a redline HAV on the other hand, just backs deeper into the red zone, ot of line of fire and waits while he reps up, only to creep back forward to resume cross map sniping untill he take a single hit, when he just repeats the process....... |

Tanks are expensive so you think you are supposed to be able to attack with complete immunity to enemy fire?
Drive well nd survive? That's awesome. Hide behind the redline so no one can throw AV grenades at you, and then run hide behind your initial spawn in - that's bullshit.
Sure, I'll give up cover for infantry, if you give up one hit kill weapons, splash damage, and the ability to go hide in the red zone as soon as you take a scratch.
A tank is suppsed to be a bad ass death machine, NOT some coward who runs and hides as soon as it gets shot. Pull around a building, pop a shot and back up, drawing my swarmers into the building or breaking my line of fire with a forge gun, that's cool. Have your buddies jump out of the vehicle to sneak up and gank an AV trooper with tunnel vision - even cooler.
Taking your tank behind the spawn in buildings for 5-10 minutes every time you get a scratch on the paint, that's just ****** up - no matter which side it's on.
Quote:Your basically asking to be able to always kill some guys tank and that it shouldn't live for an entire match even with skilled driving. The red zone is the only place to run once EVERYONE pulls out free swarms and forges. So you are saying an HAV shouldn't be able to be killed? Your saying that because YOU invested more in your tank than you can afford you SHOULD be invulnerable? If you can't afford to replace it, why the hell are you driving it in combat? Oh wait, you aren't, you're deep behind your red zone blind firing at some point or another in that 30 seconds every 5 minutes that you aren't hiding behind a building. |

Schen, probably because the instalations don't have clear lines of fire from one end of the map to the other which limits their ability to stat pad and kill *****. |
