A bit lengthy, but you most likely understand the concept.
Remove the Kill Feed.
Example?
Kill Feed wrote:XxGOOD-PlayAxX [Chuck Norris's] XxN00B-PLayAxX
(Trust me, there are some ridiculous names out there.)
Random People wrote:Why would you want to do that? Excellent question, comrades. The reason is it gives away sometimes confidential information.
For example, If I was in the Tournament, I would most likely not tell my enemies what weapons I am using. Now, sadly the game does it for me, whether I like it or not. Now, I would rather keep the enemy guessing, then the game saying I am using a GEK, or something of the like.
Plus, super-soldier and all, why in hell would I know what gun my enemy is using when he kills me? It just simply does not make sense. |

I want the option to turn off the killfeed, as well as point popups. |

Be honest you just don't want people to know your using a blind fire or some other Aur gear. I understand what your saying but you usually can tell what you got kill with in other games by the sounds of the gun. So because dust doesn't change anything about weapons it uses the name. Plus if ccp is smart use that data in balancing |

Plus they can still gather the data without a kill feed. |

Then there is no big deal then for anyone to know. It also helps players know what works and what doesn't plus what happened in a instant kill. Also with all the things that don't make sense, you chose the kill feed ? I would think 1950s radar when my iPod has google maps and there is a orbiting mcc in the air for a example. Though I am against kill cams. |

Almost all games show the weapon you are killed with. That being said for stuff like tourneys I would like to see kill info hidden. Also kill cams are a waste of processing power.

I don't see why Dust needs it just because other games have it. I find it to be unnecessary clutter. |

I like the fact that they extended the killfeed; but I tend to agree that it might give a bit away by telling the weapon used. Who killed who and suicide are all anyone really needs to know as far as I'm concerned. One might be available on the HUD through communications links, but the other is sort of beyond that.
I have noticed it helps to know what you were killed by though, as I have found many situations where I do not know. Usually I find out it was the Caldari Heavy or a Sniper, though a Sniper tends to be easier to determine than the other.
So, I counter with:
~ Keep Killfeed; give the ability to disable it. ~ Add information on what you were killed by; also able to disable. ~ configuration is awesome.

Possibly leave that as a feature of the hi-sec system due to some kind of CONCORD regulation, while having it be absent in Faction Warfare? |

I wouldn't even use AUR weapons if other people couldn't tell I was using them!
But it might be nice as an optional toggle for purely UI preference. |

But I want my enemies to see that I killed their double rep heavy suit with my lil nova knife. How could I humiliate them if they don't know what killed them? |

I have no problem with seeing who you killed, or who killed you. When its about other people killing other people, its just a bunch of clutter to me. |

Thinking about it that might be an incentive for people like me to use better gear or even AUR weapons. If they can't see I killed them with the worst gear available then there's no use in restricting myself to it. |

how can you say it's pointless to have it there?! how do you know how many you've killed/who you've killed with precision strike? or a blind grenade!?
someone stole your kill? tough ****, someone doesn't like kill feeds.
want to know how someone killed you so quickly? **** you, shouldn't have QQ'd about kill feeds! |

I have no idea what you are talking about, what does "kill stealing" have to do with this? |

It has nothing to do with it. He just wants to know who steals his kills all the time so he can do something about it, wait you can't do any thing about it even if you know who does it so might as well forget about it and remove the kill feed so you can just enjoy the game without having to check the corner after every person you shoot drops just to see if you did it or the other guy did it.
I would like the feed off myself just for the reasons the OP has. Having them there does nothing for your "gungame" or assist you in any way. And their Is no reason to have to know what one hitted you because if that does happen you just got derpshitted tanked or thukked, and on respawn it would be easy to open the map and see if a derpshit or tank are there, if not you just got thukked.
