Are we going to be able to travel? I mean ever going to be able to go to another station? I want my Dust guy to be at my Corps station so he can use the corp hanger.
What if we had a shuttle, that we could take from point to point, station to station. Now when we are flying we see New Eden, but for all the EVE players to cut down on lag, we just see there ships as icons. Like ships that are far away in EVE. So yes I can fly in to Jita, but I am not going to see each ships, ship model. I see the planets, space background, stargates, and space stations. But all I see as far as ships go are icons of the 1900 people in the Jita system.
Maybe a Mercenary transport would act like auto pilot, we would see it in the game, can rotate it around our transport. EVE players can see it also docking and going from one stargate to another. Maybe they can't be attacked though, since shuttles don't have weapons. This would give us some exploration too. To different planets, set up Dust Planetary Interactions. Change stations, etc. |

In EVE Capulseer's are clones, and get new bodies, different type of clones. And you have to pay for them so you don't lose your skill points so make sure the are upgraded.
In Dust our bodies can die, and we lose our stuff, and then set back to another body of ours.
Like in EVE you can go where ever and explore, go to asteroid fields and mine or shoot pirates.
With my idea, I pick a planet I want to go to and have district's to choose from, now some districts may automatically put up what battles and contracts are on them. Taking me to the contract finder.
What if I could go to a planet and there was no battles, but I could go there and have the Dust version of exploring worm whole space. Maybe there are NPC pirates, or I can set up mining. In Null-Sec what if I go there and looking around and some other Dust guys were there and we have a shoot out.
Or going to a planet that has ancient ruins, you can explore, fight creatures, and find things to make ISK on the Market.
Right now, Dust doesn't show New Eden much at all. Yes you land on planets, but they are kind of random. And EVE players don't see Dust players, other then a tiny little icon in the chat window that says "Infantry" if you mouse over it. When playing EVE going to a stargate and seeing a Dust transport warp out of it on it's way some place.
Just want more then I make a character, and I never see another Mercenary Quarters since I chose this race, I am not able to go anyplace, or really be part of a MMO universe. |

Every planet in EVE has a Customs Office orbiting it. Meant for planetary interactions, to send your harvest goods up to the customs office to be picked up by your, or a corps cargo ship.
Quote:Orbital Customs Offices are the primary points of contact between planetary and interplanetary economies. These facilities, resembling massive hangars in space, provide high-volume, high-frequency cargo transport services between a planet's surface and orbit.
Excerpt from the Amarr Prime Customs Agency regulations, section 17, subsection 4, paragraph 8:
The following items may only be imported or exported with the express prior approval of the Imperial Underscrivener for Commercial Affairs:
Narcotic substances; handheld firearms; slaver hounds (except as personal property); Mindflood; live insects; ungulates; Class 1 refrigerants and aerosols; forced laborers/personal slaves (or other sapient livestock); animal germ-plasm; biomass of human origin; xenobiotics; walnuts.
That is taken straight from EVE, when you fly next to it and show info. So as a Dust player, this would be your transportation hub. You go to a planet from there are sent down. Exploring would be a lot of fun, and also going to null-sec planet and worrying about if there is other players on it or not that can shot you when ever they feel like it.
We also around Temperate planets have District Satellites .
Quote:Satellites identify the position in orbit around a planet which are used for interacting with districts on the ground.
This also taken straight from EVE when showing info on a temperate planet.
Quote:Life-bearing worlds are often referred to as "temperate", as their mild temperatures are one of their defining features. Planets with existing, stable ecosystems are prime targets for colonization efforts as they are generally easier to make fully habitable; as a result, the majority of highly populated worlds are of this type. Indeed, it is not altogether uncommon for detailed surveys to reveal signs of previous settlements from various stages of New Eden's history.
So there are refereed to structures that could be explored and find things or battle creatures in a PVE environment. |

My travel idea is more for PVE and exploring, and finding new things in New Eden. Although you may go to a planet were CONCORD has no presents so other Dust players could shoot you. If CONCORD is there maybe a drone appears and begins to attack the attackers. There will always be a instant action thing in EVE. For me, it gets old, and knowing how when I play EVE I can travel on my own go see things. Want a similar experience, that I take my time, if it is going to take me 10 minutes to get there, that's fine because I chose to go there. And like in EVE I could stop the auto pilot and return.
I just want DUST players to feel there part of something bigger. Because without exporing on your own, you'll never see it. It will just be a bunch of maps, that someone told you there supposedly players in space ships above you.
Like the fanfest video from this year, it had both game on the same screen side by side. When in reality unless you play both games, the average person will never get this sense. The DUST universe will just feel as big as the map your on.
Now, imagine telling a FPS player when your not doing your PVP, you could get on a shuttle and literally go to thousands of different persistent worlds, with some having 5 or more districts on it. And showing the shuttle would reinforce this is a virtual physical place, seeing icon's representing ship being played by real people. |

Deranged Disaster wrote:really like your idea man, but im not sure how possible that would be in regards of spacing, i mean me, i could care less if dust takes 3/5 of my harddrive if it is like that but some people dont see it that way.. also consoles are alot weaker than we think in some things sadly
The could set in the preferences that you could adjust say "Only store 5 or 10 maps/districts on local storage for exploration" Then once you hit 6 or 11 one is over written, so you're not storing thousands of planets. If you go back to a planet a month later, during the load screen it would redownload the map/district, and update the locations if anything changed or not.
The way CCP has stated they want dust to be persistent. So we would either CCP servers for each planet does a random generation then it is made. Sending back to your system the "stats" on where everything is. Or if we can build and place objects. Our PS3 would still have to get calls from CCP when loading saying "Turret A" is here, "Clone Station" is here, and so on, so the map is setup when we spawn on the surface. |
