When looking to the left and right with the mouse, it's pretty quick, but looking up and down is very slow.
Changing the settings in the menu for mouse sensitivity doesn't change the ratio at which this happens.
Please let us set x and y sens seperately, or make y sens the same as x in overall sensitivity. I want to look in all directions at the same speed! |

I really hate how I have to drag the mouse a full length of my mousepad up/down for the same effect as an inch left/right. It's really difficult to aim right, especially if people bunny hop. |

Agreed, sensitivity would be better if it was either equalized or if the X and Y sensitivity were set by the user so we can equalize it ourselves. Play any other FPS for PC where a mouse is always used to aim practically and your sensitivity is equal for X and Y. |

I feel that this is a consequence of being developed for gamepads initially - The x and y sensitivity for console shooters is usually exactly this, y being a lot lower than x.
Vertical combat in console shooters rarely happens at any extreme levels other than 'shooting gallery height differences', actually shooting up or down more than 30-40 degrees is exceptionally rare (by design to reduce possible effects of motion sickness, generally making the game easier to learn and play). Y sens on gamepads is brought down because of the same reason, ease of play - On a console shooter you don't want to have a minor twitch of the stick pointing you up or down entirely, whereas turning around is far more important to do quickly.
However, this is a very bad mechanic to have for mice as camera movement is far easier to control than with a gamepad due to being able to 'use the correct dose' of movement. I hope CCP manages to decouple gamepad and mouse sensitivity (which, if my knowledge of UE3 is correct, should be fairly easy as they're different controller classes).
When i get the time i'll try testing whether changing the mouse sensitivity also affects gamepad sensitivity to check whether they lumped mouse and pad control in the same controller class (which would be bad mmkay). |

I have this issue a LOT with the standard Tacticle Assault riffle. The Advanced and proto dont have the issue.
I am forced to pay more for a rifle that actually works. This has been broken for FAR too long. |

It's because of controllers/gamepads. Sensitivity seems to be tied to basic controller sensitivity - Controllers have a far greater x sens than y sens due to how they work and how the game is designed. This is completely pointless for mice though, but CCP has taken a shortcut here and copied the control functions for mice, or much more likely, mice and gamepads use the exact same control functions in the code, where the seperate x and y sens is very likely hardcoded.
They NEED to fix this, otherwise they might aswell just remove kb/mouse support entirely. |

I noticed the same thing, pretty annoying The mouse smoothing option is also hard t understand, playing at 30% sensivity without it is the same as playing at 100% with it The X/Y axis sensivity option from the controller also affect the X/Y of the mouse haven't been able to get the Y axis on my mouse with that tho...still too slow It's like having the choice of being good from far or good a closed quarter combat.. |
