I don't want to to join a corp. and then be obliged to take part in their tournaments or competition against other corps. I like to jump in to a game, have fun for an hour or two then go do some other stuff like read a book, call a mate, write poetry or a new piece/make edits to a novel, go out clubbing and make those mistake drunken phone calls to an ex girlfriend. Sure. Games are getting more community oriented and require team work but if I ever joined a corp. and they said that if I don't take part in their activities I'll get kicked it would honestly put me off the game for good so I play on my own or with a friend that I know personally. But that's just me! I'm the type of person who logs in to EVE and AFK mines for a few hours each day while reading a book or doing stuff then using the profit to purchase a PLEX to repeat the same thing the next month, just because I want that little extra activity for if I'm bored and want to be semi-occupied with a task.
So if you're wondering why you should join a corp., OP, then you're obviously a bit bored of playing on your own so give it a shot and see if you like it or not. You can always leave and go back to being a content noddy little no internet-friender like me. You'll enjoy it if you're a fan of constant team-based online play. I'm sure a corp. can offer you various things like people to talk to while playing. New contacts to your friends list, possibly MSN and Facebook, with whom you can converse and have a laugh while you're not playing. Hints at improving your fittings or assistance on getting the things you need for them. They might be able to offer you an in-game aim, as you might find when playing a game by your own like this you have no aim but to grind non-stop with just yourself for company. And who knows what CCP will add to the game in the future but I would expect it's a lot of new breath-taking ideas to concrete itself into EVE so you can take advantage of the many things there too.
