Us pilots don't like it either, but it's the only way we can survive right now. We're just waiting on a change that gives us a proper role. |

The problem is not that the dropships are overpowered. They are simply not over powered as a well-placed shot from a turret installation and a forge gun can blow them out of the sky. It's the swarm launchers that are acting weird. Their missiles only trace the flight path of their target rather than flying directly at the target and their speed is too slow. This way, a dropship flying in large circles can easily outlast the missiles by simply waiting for their flight time to expire.
That and the lack of skillbooks needed to give bonuses for missile flight time and speed. |

Yeah, but when SWARMs were boosted to be able to catch a dropship, the DS pilots QQ about that. Seems no-one is going to be pleased no matter which direction it goes.
Don't get me wrong, there have been reasonable DS pilots that didn't have issues with getting SWARM tagged, it was the impact effect issue they called on and, IMO, rightfully so. I can understand DS pilots getting aggravated when they get flipped into terrain and end up crashing. Frustrates us AV players (I use forge.) shooting at them too because we get nothing if the final blow was a terrain crash. One would think that with all the stabilization electronics and hardware we have today, they'd have something similar in the future for things like the DS. |

This "pilots complain when they can get hit" thing needs to be laid to rest.
When we say "don't increase swarm speed" we're not saying it because we want to be able to continue to abuse an obviously broken mechanic, we say it because outrunning swarms is the only reliable way to avoid them that we have. Make any non-trivial increase in swarm speed and you don't balance the dropship, you remove it from the game.
This issue is a lot more complicated than that, and requires implementing things that aren't in the game yet. It requires a complete role change for the dropship, implementing transport assists and limiting turret usage, for example. |

Get a forge gun, learn to shoot it, DS you will find are nowhere near OP. |

There should be a high velocity low damage swarm specifically for air vehicles. It would have a dramatic damage decrease, but a speed increase to allow it to go nearly as fast as a fighter (maybe). |

they charge their gun and I'm jumping around like a jumping bean while unloading my ammunition into them until i get close enough to just run around them.
too much effort to take down a dropship that swarms are designed to take out. |

Perhaps this calls for the introduction of flares.
1. increase the speed of swarm missiles but keep the same turn rate, perhaps lower it a bit 2. Allow dropships to equip flares, which, when dispersed, confuse the tracking system of swarm missiles so they can no longer track you and makes them detonate prematurely. |

If you'd bothered to read, like, five posts above yours you'd see that I already explained in this thread why just speeding up swarms is not the way to fix dropships. |

The solution is this, a committed Swarm Launcher user should get a bonus to missile speed instead of the stupid .05 meter increase of missile blast radius each level. For leveling Swarm Launcher Operation, you should get +5% missile speed. This will give swarms a point when attacking drop ships.
I also suggest giving Caldari LAV/Dropship users +5% shields in Caldari LAVs/Dropships per level of Caldari LAV/Dropship Operation and Gallente LAV/Dropship users +5% Armor in Gallente LAVs/Dropships per level of Gallente LAV/Dropship Operation per level too.
I think this is a more balanced solution that rewards dedicated users of their various tools while keeping swarm and LAV noobs weak. |

The benefits are going to vary from one model to another. There's a devblog that actually lists what bonuses the Prometheus and Surya are intended to have. |
