So as i sit here watching the Daily Show and The Colbert Report i'm thinking about how awesome it would be for Dust to be the first video game to get the Colbert bump. I can see our ginger god sitting there talking to Colbert right now. I think we can make this happen. |

Total free market capitalism behind endless warfare fought by privatized military forces.
Gallente = American (or just Western) ideals
Amarr = American southern conservatism and religious zealotry (with lasers)
Caldari = corporations are not only people, but they literally are the government ruling over people, a big step forward for corporation civil rights. Everything is privatized. Almost a parody of American plutocracy.
Minmatar = an opportunity for an "I don't see race" joke.
I think Colbert would like Dust, at least its world and premise. Plus the game's setting is full of opportunity for comparison and commentary with the real world. |

The Gallente were space French at one time, kind of like modern france with the military power it had at its peak as an empire and hollywood relocated to it meddling in others affairs like U.S. during the cold war.
The Caldari are more a mix of cyberpunk corps with some Japanese influence and ****-esque leaders taking over since the events of Empryian Age novel. We really need to kill Tibus Heth so the state can flourish, racism adds inefficiency to the system.
The Amarr have a little roman empire and medieval catholic church thrown in, the slaves are treated more like the roman slaves then the ones in american south.
Minmatar have a lot of viking and different tribal influences. They are not all black, there are some pale goth kid looking minmatar too. There was also a non-playable tribe said to look almost like gallente in one of the novels. |
