I'm personally against any kind of dual wielding in any game, it's a dumb idea period. |

this. it doesn't make sense; your wasting ammo, and a gun if you die. wasting = failure. failure Gëá success. GET OUT. jk. but really, this idea doesn't fit well. |

if they did that then there would be a huge stacking penalty to where they combined damage is the same as a single or they would nerf them completely to make the noobs feel at home. and then everyone else who uses em as a back up would get screwed |

or the people (me) who already use the SMG's as a primary get screwed even more. IMO, all the CQ weapons need a buff, or AR's need a nerf, because it's hard putting all your sp into a cq thing, then half of the time you use meta1 gear, but get trucked by a militia AR -.- |

I take it you haven't made a dual dragon bone smasher build for Demon's Souls... cause you know what they say: once you go double dragon bone, you can never carry just one again.
But in all seriousness, the souls games allow you to equip any item in either hand. This is a brilliant system and if you have two of anything you can dual wield. As long as you meet the stat requirements.
I am not sure how well something like that could work in a FPS game but I would like to some day see a more sophisticated and open ended options for carrying and shooting weapons. Including dual wielding.
The real advantage dual wielding would give would be the ability to aim at two different opponents or objects simultaneously. How would you design a controller scheme / FPS UI that would allow players to aim two separate reticles at the same time? Has an FPS game done this before?
As it stands in DUST, If you want to do double the damage of 1 SMG at about the same range there is no need to fire 2 SMGs at once. Just get an HMG. |

No weapon is truly meant to ne used with one hand, even when targeting two at once you'd have a lot less accuracy than just half so that means the majority of the magazine and tge gross majority at that so carrying two is about as effective as taking away over 50 rounds from a single magazine. |

Yes, if dual weilding is ever well implemented in DUST it would have to work more or less as you have described.
It could be a fun mechanic to play around with and I would not mind seeing it in game. I like the idea as it would give players more options to tinker with different fittings. But it could also get over complicated and if there is a way to dual fit and shoot something completely stupid players will do it.
There is a lot work that needs to be done on just the basic shooting mechanics and I would much rather see that improved to where it is rock solid and butter smooth; fast, furious and fun, than add another layer of fancy trick/ stunt shooting to the game. |

I enjoyed it in Stranglehold. But I was probably the only person to play that. And Max Payne, that was pretty sweet. But yea, really other than that it just wastes ammo. Interesting idea though, just not sure if it fits this game that well. |

Dual wielding just isn't right for this game, basically it's like deciding to put two engines in one car which would more than likely skyrocket the gasoline needed for lower performance |
