Let's still keep in mind that this is a beta: what we are seeing is still an incomplete product. Skirmish 1.0 could easily wind up existing in some shape or form in the final (before expansions) product. What we are being given right now is what ccp wants to test. They put in recoilless ARs to test how it affects gameplay. The changes they have made to game modes, nerfs/buffs, and anything else changed from build-to-build do not represent the final product. A beta is experimental, they test the stuff that could ruin the game forever before green-lighting it for the final build so they avoid actually, you guessed it, ruining the game forever.
In short, it's a beta: once the game is properly released to the general public, then we shall proceed to rip apart every flaw, every bug, every single thing wrong with it, and ccp will take steps to improve it. Consider what happened with the Incarna expansion in EVE: ccp listened to the players, realized they had messed up, and worked to clean up that mess.
Whatever build you preferred, it was a beta build of Dust 514, not the real Dust 514 (which we still don't have a proper projected release date for, they said Summer 2012 and summer is over so what the hell ccp/sony?). |

This is why the game is going backwards, this is beta has been used more on these forums to excuse bad game desicions and implementation , things should be getting better because this is beta not going backwards. You all have so much faith in ccp why? What have they done to prove they are so good? They have only produced one game (not a fps) and thats in 10 years, so their one product should be top notch it's taken 10 years to get there. I have no faith in things getting better because I have nothing to show me otherwise, and one game in 10 years dose nothing to improve my lack of faith
I am not saying that you should have absolute faith in ccp's ability to do a good job (I am a big opponent of cult-mentalities). What I am saying is that, since this is a work in progress, we shouldn't sound the death knell for Dust 514 just yet. From what I've seen of their track record (and I've only seen so much, so cut just a little slack, no more than that), ccp does listen to their fans when the majority agrees on something. When that happens, they will try to fix the problem. Doesn't mean their attempts will be successful, doesn't mean they won't make things worse, but I think that it still says something about ccp that is better than a developer saying, "screw it, let it work itself out" for a game they are continuously working on.
There is no reason you should a ton of faith in ccp, I wasn't trying to suggest that, and I'm sorry if I gave you that impression. I'm saying that since we are currently experiencing an incomplete product, that we should at least give them a shot.
If this beta is no longer enjoyable for you, than you have every right to stop playing it, because if the game fails to accomplish that, then the game is no longer worthy of your valuable time. |
