you are making the same mistake that Zipper and Sony made with mag. stop trying to protect the casual gamers. zipper tried to do this and their game failed at retail. yes, yes i know a bunch of fakers will try and puff it up like it was different. it wasn't. it failed. all because the devs wanted to make sure the casuals weren't "scared off". they got rid of all in game competition in order to pump up "sales". it killed the game. the casuals are not your bread and butter. they are fickle. they don't matter. they will come and go.
right now you are crushing the morale of the clans. you really need to stop with the training wheels and the montessori "Everyone comes in first" crap. leave that for ea, cod, mag, etc. I was hoping for different from you, in lieu of your attitude about EvE. bring that same attitude over to 514. don't soften it just because it's a different format and community.
1. let the clans join matches in squads of either 8 or 16. 2. break out the vote to kick. 3. break out prox chat for both enemies and team 4. break out FF=on.
there should be full blown pub room clan matches right now. those are going to be WAY more telling about the future of this game then all this pub room ez mode crap. this isn't a beta. it's more like a very controlled alpha. you guys are avoiding the real parts of what's going to happen in 514. not sure why. no reason to wait now.

You mean make Dust a futuristic SOCOM clone. People rarely stay in SOCOM for long, and for good reason. The biggest issues being that vote to kick and FF alienates new players due to their abusive use for getting rid of people who they don't want to play with.
Don't forget how vast this game is. The player count is going to need to be massive for things to work out the way CCP is planning for them to. We will need casual gamers just as much as no lifers just to fill in the void this game is going to have due to it's sheer size.
I can see no issue with CCP making a section of the game for FF and VTK, but to make the whole game have FF on and allow players to vote out people is to invite disaster. A casual gamer can handle getting kicked once or twice, but when they get votes out 5 times in a row and can't get anywhere in the game because no one allows them to play, they will give up on it. On the FF side, a casual gamer who get's FF killed every time they spawn in or try to cap an objective isn't going to stick around long either. Casual gamers need to be able to progress in the game without having to deal with elitist snobs who refuse to let them enjoy the game.
Then all that's left is the few who are willing to put up with that BS and the elitist snobs, and there goes your player base. You cannot make money off of a player base you do not have.
Just because Sony and Zipper messed things up doesn't mean that this game will have the same problem. It's a different company with different goals, however similar they may be to MAG. MAG is a cheap blueprint of what this game aims to be, but without gameplay that appeals to all sectors of it's playerbase it won't even get off the ground.
It sounds to me like your butthurt because you aren't getting the game made how YOU want it and ignoring the other sides of the issues entirely. |
