When having the reticle turn red which usually means you've got a target dead on in your sights i fire the forge gun and it goes off to the left right or above them. Hitting just a few meters behind them. the splash damage is a joke. what splash damage? i can literaly hit right behind someones left foot where their entire body is engulfed in the blue energy wave but nothing happens to them.
I had Mr.TEA or whatever his name is directly infront of me one match with my forge gun charged with him running forward his torso filled the cross hairs and i fired but it went through him and hit directly behind him. and he killed me. that should have been a direct hit.
Using the AUR prototype forge gun (blastwave) quite regularly, I'd have to disagree with regards to the splash damage. It takes two shots of splash damage to take out a decent assault suit. I've taken out people two at a time like this as well.
Why your shot missed at point blank range is a good question though, lag maybe? I don't tend use the gun like that very often as I find switching to the SMG much more effective.
I have noticed shots hitting outside of the cross hairs however, but only at longer ranges. While having a stationary tank dead center in my sights, I'd miss a fair bit with shots hitting the ground either side of the tank ( I was above said tank on a hill).
I got into using the forge gun in a big way towards the end of the last build and it still seems to do a good job for its intended AV purpose at the moment.
I haven't skilled up enough in sharpshooting, forge gun operation and forge gun proficiency to be certain how effective a weapon it is with some serious skill points invested in it. It may be the issues with shots going wide will be mitigated by training up the heavy sharpshooting and sharpshooting proficiency skills, which I'll be working on after the next SP cap reset, after I unlock the advanced assault forge gun. |
