I was just in a match where a dropship just went around and killed everyone. I went 0 kill and 5 deaths; most of my team got at the most 1 kill.
My request is this: it's too overpowered to just spawn in a dropship at the beginning of a match and have someone go 18/0 while spawn killing us. Have it to where you have to have a certain amount of WP before you request vehicle support in. |

And is really risky to call one at the start of a match, you are giving the other team 20 or more minutes to shoot you down. |

Lol. Sorry, but that's on the same level as asking for WP for spawning in.
Edit: Sorry, I jumped the gun and didn't read your post right. Now that I have, I'm not sure. If it needed a certain level of WP to call in the larger vehicles, it'd mean the pure pilot spec players would be forced to be LAV drivers or snipers at the start to get the WP as they're not suited for boots on the ground. You don't really get any WP from driving other than pilot assist, and that's so little it'd take the whole game to get your tank/dropship. The balance for the lager vehicles will come when the aerial fighter is introduced. Until then, if there's a rail gun installation, use that against them, otherwise, forge gun them. |

That was originally what they said they were going to do at FanFest 2009, but if you think about it, that would mean that someone who specced completely into a vehicle would be unable to use that vehicle without first running around on foot and getting enough kills, which would pretty much be a giant middle finger to anyone who didn't spec for infantry equipment. |

As I stated when tanks were an "issue".
A system where by each team can deploy so many points per battle would limit each team to a certain amount of vehicles.
ie each team has about 500, (we'll call them deployment points). Each vehicle cost x amount of deployment points based on it's level and modules, then that amount is removed from the pool. That way you'd never have 9 proto tanks or dropships on a map.
With the dropships in there currently broken state however this wont help but as and when they make it so people can actually shoot them down, this will stop them being there in such a force that the enemy team can't deal with them. |

If you really hate drop ships that much train heavy to 1 or 2 (depending on if you like to armor or shield tank) grab a forge gun, and take care of the problem. You may be pleasantly surprised. |

I thought I had read that WP was going to be necessary to call in vehicles in future builds. I have already seen the limits of how many vehicles can be called in, but nothing yet on the climax build of battle. |

In any case, I have tried the old adage: If you can't beat them, join them.
So I tried being a dropship pilot. And now I have a new perspective.
Dropships aren't OP... but allowing a Mobile CRU to be attached to a militia dropship? Arguable on if it's OP. Also depends on pilot skill.
Dropships are hard for me to pilot. Seeing someone else do it and win at it made me think that it needed a nerf somehow. After getting on my own bicycle (dropship) and trying it, I realize it takes a certain amount of skill to not crash one.
A couple of times, I felt like I should have died. One time was where swarm missiles were coming at me, I accelerated, and for some reason, they went behind me and started following me. My thought line was that they should have hit me and I should have been shot out of the sky. To this, I agree missile pathing needs to be fixed.
The missile turrets I equipped to them are militia. Nowhere near as powerful as the high tiered missile turrets. My gunners take about 2 or 3 hits... maybe even 4 until an assault dropsuit is dead. To this, I must say, it is harder to kill someone but missiles versus blasters? I might agree, missiles are a bit overpowered, and maybe blasters needs to be taken into consideration for rebalancing... again, arguable.
I don't believe I was hit with a forge gun.... if I was, it threw my flight path off considerably and took a great amount of effort to not crash. If a dropship is hit with a Forge gun, I now believe it shouldn't be a one-shot kill, as I thought before. It takes a good amount of recovery on the pilot's part to attempt to recover, to which I say to dropship pilots: Good Job!
And I forgot, once fighters are released, dropship pilots are going to have a deadly enemy in their skies.
TLDR: Fledging dropship pilot finds that swarm missile pathing needs work. |
