I don't like the idea of proxy chat. How are u supposed to comunicate with your squad if they are isolated on the other side of the map. Or once we get commander roles how is a commander supposed to tell squad 1 go to point a or whatever he needs to tell his team. Proxy chat is very limiting, our current chat system is less limiting. Not to mention tht proxy chat will not get rid of blue dot syndrome, there will always be blues because they either don't want to use vc or are to lazy to enable it. |

@ app- then like u said call it wat it is; talking to reds. Personally I don't want to hear the other team its distracting from playing the game. Also it doesn't make sense with the game we r wearing enclosed helmets y would sound come out of them unless u r purposefully trying to talk to the other team. And if thts the only reason for it then fine say it. Ill get behind it only if I can keep the current system and turn proxy off |

@ ydbbs81- actually Ive played mag. @ icecream - consider this we all have sealed metal helmets on (so does the enemy) its hard to talk through a motorcycle helmet I can't imagine wat it would be like talking through a sealed metal helmet. So unless our suit creators were dumb enough to put speakers on the outside of our suits how are you going to hear anything anyone says through proxy chat. Not to mention ur example completely defeats the purpose of scan warfare, if u can hear someone around a corner or the other side of a wall then wats the point in upgrading scan skills, also this completely nerf bats all ghost scouts. @Santana- see above. Also proxy chat kills team tactics. Im sure tht a commander is not gonna want to hear u screaming at enemies as he is trying to give orders to his team. So aside from being able to talk to blues (which probably wont work anyway because blues are gonna do whatever their gonna do regardless) how does this help squad and team tactics more than the current system. Also how do u keep proxy chat from wrecking scanning and profile dampening. It seems to me that in this game the only thing proxy chat will add to game play is player gloating, which is fine and dandy as long as it implemented in a way for those of us who don't want to go around gloating to opt out. By that I mean if u turn on proxy chat u can talk to and be heard by ppl in proxy but if u turn it off u can't do either, but either way u can still talk in chat channels. Proxy chat can be fun and useful in some games (mag being a great example) however its only use in dust tht I can see is gloating.
TLDR: if u can make proxy chat optional then fine add it to dust otherwise leave it out. |

Mister hunt: it pains me to say this because we agree on the subject but ur post was a bad one. Ur lack of citing who said what makes u look lazy, it took me less than a minute to find who you are referencing and I'm using a phone (it was crimson moon v btw). Ur points are all valid except for calling their "need to yell at [friendlies] or [talk] smack to the enemy" stupid. You are arguing an opinion with another opinion rather than a fact; this doesn't help strengthen ur argument. also you are insulting them by saying that wat they consider fundamentally as fun is stupid, this causes retaliation and then the whole argument is downhill from there and also further weakens ur argument. Shiro : u make a good point with the book reference although arguably the implants are real from the perspective of the eve universe |

@Santana: I've actually played mag since release so how much more time is required for me to understand how the comms worked so tht I can go play more mag then come back and argue with u at ur level? |

@mobius: thts a good idea and closer to an answer while I personally would still prefer the ability to completely turn proxy chat off while retaining team, squad, and channel voice chat; that is something I could settle for. |

Ydubbs81 RND wrote:This isn't a proxy vs current system debate. The current system is awesome but adding proxy will make it complete. It doesn't make sense to have the option to turn it off. People are talking about realism in a space game lol. But if you want to go there, then think universal voice transmitters and being able to pick up nearby chatter.
You want to know how many times I've got rezzed by a bluedot because of proxy? Or, have saved their lives or they saving mine? Or, on the fly, emergent stratagizing??
Someone said something about, "well, go on team chat". Can you imagine 24 or more people on team chat during a match? Because ccp is saying that they may add more people to the game. Proxy is needed and the fun factor increases tenfold I said it and have u ever been in a chat channel with 300 ppl I have and u don't have useless bantor because u get muted real quick and it actually works. |
