With the current Size of most corps it would make sense to allow more players per squad, to ensure corps get to play together instead of hoping que sync will place you with ur corp mates |

Agreed. I love the bug that allows 5-7 people in your squad. Too bad it's only random. |

I disagree until they beef up the over-all player count in game. It's hard enough to be a solo player grinding SP/ISK against a good sqaud of 4, 6 would just make games more one sided then they are since most people don't use squads when joining. |

The problem of squad size is the amount of people in a game. In corp battles it's 8vs8, and in most other games I'm pretty sure it's 16vs16. The amount of people in a squad needs to divide evenly to the amount of people in the game, so the only other number that fits is 8, which is a little too large to effectively manage. |

This; until they get the matches up to 32x32 or larger, at which point, 6 and 8 man squads will be the way of things... I hope so anyway. |

When team sizes go up we will probably get a leadership skill group. It may or may not require a skill.
EvE had a skill that allowed 2 players per squad per level, one that allowed 1 squad in wing per level, and one for one wing in fleet per level. With total of 256 players in fleet.
The tree structure allows command to scale to the larger size, we will probably have something like this once play caps are higher and crusader and command suits have been added.
It doesn't have to be evenly divisible. Three player hav teams, lone snipers, lone dropship pilots, 2 man heavy logi pairs, random unsquaded players ect... All could fill in extra team slots remaining from infantry squads. This would work better if we could set both team and squad to listen, and set speaking to squad and push to talk to team(or the reverse). |

I agree with you, being able to talk the whole team and your squad using this method would be great. |

We need custom squads.
This game is designed to let players develop their own strategies and play style.
We aren't expected to play with the same cookie-cutter classes in Battlefield, so why the hell are we stuck with the same cookie-cutter squad size? It makes no sense to me. |

And what I mean by custom squads is that we can make fully CUSTOM squads...
Even if it's an oddly number amount of squadmates...
That way, we can have a 3 man LAV squad, a 7 man infantry squad, a 2 man drop ship squad or even a 12 man squad for zerging- it makes no sense to expect a four man squad to be work without people overlapping and all this, etc... |

Don't necessarily need bigger squads, just need a way for multiple squads to link up and enter games together. Basically, an official queue syncing mechanism. |

The people that decided to make a 10 person squad would have to figure that out. For example could be 3 2 person squads for holding objectives once 10 man squad zergs them. I wouldn't do this but some may, if we ever get 100+ player teams then 10 man squads could be a good size for a maneuver element. |

It could be that the VOIP channel size on PS3 is limiting factor there. I am surprised that they managed 32 players as BF is limited to 24 max . So we may not see custom or 6 ppl squads at all. |

Did you say six clone squads? Back in the Replication days there were six clone squads. Course thats those new fangled things like after they discovered throwing rocks at each other was far better than throwing dirt clods and now they have weapons instead of being rock throwers.

I think squads of four are fine, but let us form teams that can join a battle together. Solves the issue of corps not being able to ROFL stomp in games outside of corp battles. |

Squad count shouldnt be raised until player cap is imo.
16 vs 16 => 4 24 vs 24 => 6 32 vs 32 => 8 (best option imo. hope we get there fast)
also,

Bad idea imo. The day they allow team to full deploy in high-sec contracts, it will ruin the game for a lot of people |

Does no one on these forums understand the military role of a squad? I keep hearing and seeing requests for larger squads and I just don't get it. You're breaking a very fundamental tactical rule.
A squad is basically the smallest military unit that can roam alone in battle. Larger squads just don't make sense. What you are all really asking for is a way to deploy together with more than 4 people. That doesn't mean having more than 4 in a squad, that just means deploying as more than 4. If I translate this to a more technical aspect I'd say it's a way to tie 2-3 squads together for deployment purposes. Maybe even have a team commander who also deploys (though a team commander should technically be the commander of one of those squads).
So please people, don't ask for tactic breaking mechanics. Say what you mean instead of clinging to invalid game mechanics.

Agreed. but a squad doesnt have to be 4 dude. I'd think it's closer to 6-8. |

Dropships require a way to deploy a coordinated team of seven players to be useful. That could be two four man squads or a single seven man squad.
As so many helpfully pointed out, the dropship's main mission is deploying shock toops on an objective. Of all vehicles, the dropship alone can deliver a fighting force of sufficient strength to overwhelm a well defended objective.
Why isn't it being used that way even after the missile nerf relegated its turrets to secondary status? Because coordination is limited to four man squads which are simply too small. That equates to one pilot and an attacking force of three, too small to be effective. Would you expect to see a Huey helicopter deploy a mere three soldiers? No, you can fit those three into a LAV.
All the WP incentives in the world won't fix the problem. Pilots have traditionally flown for paltry rewards. Of all the weapon systems in DUST, only the dropship lacks "ammunition" for its main offensive weapon. |

At this point in the beta, there is no balance in the match making (or game overall)... you see 4 elite corp players in one squad and it makes it no fun for the n00bs in the game... it makes it unplayable for them, actually. Multiply those elite players and think what it'll do to the game in its current state. |

^^ THIS too many ppl want to run around with full teams in hisec pub matches full teams should NEVER be in hisec pub matches, should be out doing FW/Nullsec battles hisec is the only place newbies can try to learn the game by limiting corps from just stomping on an unorganised team
Caz numbers for squad size are spot on imo when the game goes back up to 24v24 then yea bump squad size to 6 then 32v32 bump it to 8 |

Hmm, sounds like a "you" problem.
I'm all in favor of squadless game mode like mercenary TDM form cod.
