Its Saturday night where I am, but I'm sure if I jump on it will be the usual 1v1 rubbish.
They've screwed this game big time.
What meaningful test data can be obtained with such low numbers?
Then they make gimmicks like the tourney to get people to show interest.
Hello? Just fix the basic stuff: player counts, frame rate, lag, weapon balance, grouping and the players will return. But continue with the same methodology, then failure is the outcome that is inevitable.
A great green creature once said "Do, or do not. There is no try"
Just get t done CCP, fix the basic stuff. Stop being tryhards.

Planetside 2 full release Nov 20.
Once thats out, unless there are some drastic improvements with Dust, i'm out probably for the three years that will be required to polish the garbage that the game is presently to an acceptable FPS standard for PS3...
Its just such a timid game, sure it all sounds epic and grand scale, but when most games are 1vs1 on huge maps it does kind of get on peoples nerves.....
MAG in its current form, even in its beta days beats dust hands down for quality FPS gameplay, despite its own issues such as no clan battle... |

Now that's a total crock of $h!7. MAG was great, but now it's a free-for-all where anything goes, because there's no gate keepers to make sure that things aren't getting out of hand. All of the glitching, lag, and lack of players meaning that most of the maps are unavailable to play, make that game worse than getting paper cuts on your genitals. Dust has a long way to go,but I'd rather play this than MAG in it's current state any day. I actually went back to try out MAG last week, and borrowed my friends copy even; what I found was horrible. The game is nothing as it once was, and the players are worse then Warhawk and Warhawkers (which I am). Still the game is horrible now. Anyone who says MAG today is better is day dreaming of nostalgia. Because, let me tell you I have some fond memories of MAG, and it's now an ugly bloated, rotted, viscous, degenerated bile of crap. You know,I still have my copy, and occasionally I'm tempted to go back for a few matches, then I have to slap myself in the face and remember how absolutely horrible it was when I stopped playing around five months ago. I,and others have to realize that MAG is a mere hollowed out husk of a shell that it once was,and those glory days of that game are long gone, and are never coming back.
LolMAGBashing!
Yeah some valid points about glitching and player counts, but if you play Japanese prime time Friday/Saturday nights all game modes are played and all factions have the numbers to play many games of domination......
The point being, that when the games get going, despite the issues, the game play is better than the 1 vs 1 hide and seek on a huge map that dust is.
The very first dust build I played, we the most fun. Can't remember what it was called, but it was the one when they let in the first round of public after Iceland....every build since then, while adding features, has had issues with game play that are never fixed....some are new, but some persistent issues never seem to improve build to build....
In that context, I find playing suppression/sabo on MAG to be more fun than Ambush and Acquisition/Dom/Esc/Int to be more fun than skirmish.
Anyway, as I said in my other post, after November 20 PS2 launch, I'll probably stay away from dust...until its fixed properly, which is a 3-5 year exercise..... |

Personally I find this prophecy to be the ultimate certainty for Dust.
It would be easier to develop, and be a much better product on the PC.
CCP must have an agreement with Sony which voids exclusivity if by a certain date, average daily player counts are less than X, or by a certain date, revenue is less than X. I'm sure they would have something like this, so they can protect their investment and port it to the PC.
Personally, I'm doubtful that the full scale potential of Dust will ever be realised on PS3. |
