D3LTAFORC3 objects to a middle of the workday corp battle time. Come on guys. I thought MW3 was bad about tournaments in the middle of the day at times that are not convenient for anyone |

Because New Eden isn't a weekenders paradise. -A- doesn't stop taking over sov. just because it is no longer the weekend. CCP should NOT pander to us American players. If you can't advance past the first round based on you not getting enough players on 1 day, then you don't deserve the honor of fighting for the championship because this is all about who can CONSISTENTLY field the best team. Not who can field the best when it works out for them. Welcome to New Eden, welcome to 23/7 warfare.
I work Wednesday night through Saturday night. Pretty much every time except Sunday afternoon interferes with my life. Guess what, I will be at this tourny with bells and friggin' whistles!!! This is asinine. You really think the best corp is determined by who has the most EU players or US players with no job? Honestly? You can't even take off because it is spaced out so much. The fact is, as Hunt said, the full game is more than likely going to have clashes of the time zones, so the corp that has members from as many areas as possible is going to rule the roost. And what, are you making excuses already. A lot of the crowd I know here have jobs, partners, a life. Go cry some more umm we KNOW this for the full game but u dont seem to get this is a TOURNAMENT do u see the Alliance tournaments starting at stupid times and days for ppl? NO The Alliance tourny started in the middle of the freakin' night for some and very early in the a.m. for others. So I don't see where you are going with this. You do understand that no matter what time it is made, that someone is gonna get screwed. The US players don't have the right to dictate when others play. That is one reason that the rest of the world rightfully believes we are arrogant. This is not an American company. It is an Icelandic company. We play by their rules and customs, not ours.

A possible solution is to do it like a corp battle. Set up a simple system of contracts without ISK being involved, but so that corporations can schedule their own battles.
I've been in several 3rd party tournaments over the years, including highly complex "Tac Map" style tournaments with 32 players per team and 32 teams from around the world. Each week we all drew to see who had to battle who, and it was up to us to set the time. The "Attacker" or in this case the team on the left side of the tournament bracket is allowed to schedule the time if they are unable to find a suitable time for both parties.
More often than not, it was never an issue, and I know it wont be here either because the corporations that will be represented in this tournament are all respectable and want to do the tournament. Anyone who intentionally sets a time that is crazy without working with the other CEO could and should be ridiculed on these forums so much that anyone looking for a corp would never join them. Let's show CCP they don't have to be big brother and control everything we do.
It's just an idea though. I'm sure someone will flame it and get the discussion going again. |
