Because this game has so many different ways to fit your suit it would be very helpful if each corporation had access to a Practice Range. Here you could try out different fittings and tactics. It should be limited to corp members only and not count kills and deaths towards your totals or cost you suits/modules when you die, but merely give corp members an opportunity to try different things.
And most importantly, it must be a unique map and NOT under any circumstances be one that is playable in the regular game or even contain any part of a playable map as the last thing we need is people having unlimited free play to find more stupid places to hide and stupid crap to do.
Anyway, just a thought I had that would be great to have in this game and would help set it apart from others, in a good way. |

In addition to Altina McAlterson's idea of corp practice ranges if corps could spend money to customize and upgrade their rages. With customizations such as biomes (upon biome update) and size to individual structures and land forms to fit specific training targets such as the effective use of cover, general stealth, use of a certain weapon type, turrets, vehicles etc. And upgrades or modifiers such as unlimited ammo, within corp pvp, gravity, and generally things to effect a mercs training experience to better prepare them for various situations. |

Corp bases would be a great addition. You'd have to occupy actual real estate on a planet, so in theory a different corp could come in and either conquer it or demolish it. Would make for some epic battles, and since you'd be able to build the base any way you want, it would be an unapologetically uphill battle for the attacking corp--but not impossible. Of course, you'd have to find the corp base first.
I know that's a little bit of a deviation from what you're suggesting, but I like the idea. It gives the corp assets that it can lose, and therefore a reason to protect those assets. |

Sounds reasonable, heck of an idea where your training center would represent that planets terrain. Funds spent by the corp is on a sliding level.
Heck on that note, even "rent" out your training center to other corp's to gain money for yours.
Not sure how difficult that would be to code options for each level so that way there's incentive to earn higher levels and each training center is separate. And if you defend your planet/system etc... from attack you get a bonus to your coffers.
And if you log x-amount of hours training you can even earn a small amount of SP for your time.

And if you defend your planet/system etc... from attack you get a bonus to your coffers. I'd think that keeping your base would be enough incentive to defend it. If you're sinking massive amounts of ISK, and likely spending AUR on cosmetic details--I could imagine some bases costing thousands of dollars in combined currency purchases (to get AUR) and play time (to get ISK--and yes, you can make theoretical conversions of ISK to real currency either by converting to AUR and then real currency, or by valuing a player's time earning ISK at a certain real-currency amount). So no bonus to coffers, I'd think.
And if you really need to have some kind of leveling-up to get better stuff, you can add corp administration skills that let you acquire, for example, MCC hangars, terraformers (to simulate different terrain types at a single base), advanced fabricators (to provide practice equipment at no cost), stuff like that. Of course, the bigger a base gets, the easier it is to find.
You could also make it so bases become key to managing larger corps, e.g., make the MCCs vulnerable to EVE pilots in space, and you can only dock an MCC at a base. Then when DUST mercs raid the base, they can force the MCCs to retreat out into space where they're vulnerable. |

Those are all really great and while they are a big departure from what I suggested they are nonetheless very interested and maybe warrant further discussion for some additions in the future. But for now I'd settle for a reconfigurable practice floor on the MCC even. Maybe something comparable to small paintball field with different layouts of cover, open spaces and the like.
The main reason I suggested this is there is something kind of like this in EVE, although not a deliberate design. Corp mates can shoot each other in high sec without the police killing everyone involved so we can test cheap PvP fits by blowing each other up (the value of ISK in DUST vs EVE is hard to compare, but these ships would be like dropsuit loadouts costing maybe 1 or 2k each.) Or if you've got a big expensive ship we all shoot you so you can find out how much damage you can tank and how long you can last. Something like that in this game would have to be deliberately designed since you can't really "undock" into neutral territory but pay attention DEVs! It would probably be pretty simple to include and would be a feature that I bet a lot of people would really like.
Plus, as long as there's no SP/ISK being awarded or kills/deaths being counted and the map isn't anything that can be played on outside the training center there won't be anything to nerf later on. |
