I find that Dual Shock sensitivity is poorly adjusted. When right stick is lightly pressed, the movement of the cursor/reticle is too slow and when pressed a bit harder, the movement is too fast without a good gradual transition in the midzone. What this translates to is that it's incredibly hard to use the controller with single shot weapons like shotgun without using AIM assist. To me it's very important to be able to play a competitive FPS, relying on my skill solely without AI helping me aim. Would it be possible to have a utility in the game to fine tune Dual Shock sensitivity? As was suggested by another player under general discussion, maybe include a few preset sensitivity curves? Thanks! |

The cursor acceleration factor could perhaps use some tweaking. However, for my part it seems more like the size of the deadzone seems to change at times making fine movements difficult to control/predict. This is a common problem on FPS games when players turn down sensitivity settings. But on DUST I have fooled around with the settings and nothing seems to help the [problem].
On the other hand, there are a lot of players out there that wreck face on this game so tbh it may stay the way it is. It doesn't seem right to mess with the control and gunplay mechanics if half of us say its fine and the other half say it needs work. |

I think a lot of ppl who are good shots use autoaim. I'd like to be able to turn it off and still manage. Dunno I have been occupied by this thought for some reason - good controls are very important to me; just trying to see how many like minded ppl there are out there. |

Dust supports keyboard and mouse. Those players had problems adjusting it too, but at least they can. Everybody knows that KBM has a huge advantage over the controller. So most of those good shots use KBM.
AltTest, i agree. On top of that, the the y-axis sensivity is way too slow. About a 1/5 of x-axis.

Two or three builds ago (when you could change sensitivity by a factor of 1) I felt they had it adjusted well, but since they altered it so you have to change by a factor of 10, it's annoying for the reasons you said. It's also counter-intuitive to have the sensitivity decrease as you turn the sensitivity setting up (apparently 100 is the least sensitive). It's extremely frustrating to have someone very close to me who is moving and not be able to shoot them because any adjustments change my aim wildly.
I'm interested in how some people are so accurate from such a long distance, though. I don't think it's KBM because I've seen multiple threads in the forums about how the sensitivity for them is screwed up too.
And, by the way, aim assist does nothing. |

I think there's just a lot of us out there that have simply gotten used to it. I know personally I've pretty much gotten use to the 'floaty' feel of the guns. I think some ADS options other than that camera scope would give the guns a less detatched feel. Also the AR seems to the most 'twitchy'. I've used all the weapons but the mass driver. But that's just my opinion.
As far as aim assist goes, it shouldn't even be an option in the game. Imo if u need the game to aim for you than you need to find another genre to spend your gaming time on. I know that sounds harsh but seriously... |

Did some more testing:
First I can only approve that 100 is the least sensitive and 0 the most sensitive, for whatever reason.
Second although aiming is faster and tracking enemies easier at 0, it is even more clunky, especially for the tactical AR. When you move the stick straight up or straight down the aim will jump unpredictable to the left or to the right. More often to the left it seems. This doesn't occur when you move stick very slightly, then it will move perfectly straight up and down, but once you move it fast it will jump. This leads me to...
Third the deadzone seems to have a weird shape, it's far from being a circle, which would be best. This might also come down to the gradual transition which the OP mentioned. |

Thanks to all of you participating in the thread. I think issues like aiming deserve better awareness and discussion since they have a lot to do with good game mechanics. Thanks, guys
Really waiting for the next few builds to fix lag and choppy frame rate and with that to adjust sensitivity of aim. |

Lag and mechanics seem to be getting a lot of attention this build. It seems like the game has lost players...maybe its just me. Seems like less activity in the forums and I run into the same players in game over and over again. I almost miss all the threads about tanks...at least it was good for some lolz. Now its just "this build sux" over and over... |
