Even as a scout user i hated the neo bullet dodging strafing speed, being able to change directions on a dime, but i also do think suits should still have differences in lateral movement, so I thought of a smoother alternative
Essentially it would be a double tap on sprint to activate, costs stamina like a jump, and varies by suit.
scouts would do a side hop or quick step, heavies would have a much slower version
assaults could do a medium speed roll (don't laugh at me its done in movies), logis get the same or slower?
either that or cartwheels for the logi, i also thought about not giving heavies one or just a short forward lunge
In all seriousness, due to a lack of cover or blindfire mechanisms, I think think this evasive mechanism could work.
thoughts? criticisms? (if anyone brings out realism, realize that our mercs cant take cover besides corners)

Scouts never had neo bullet dodging speed, there was just poor hit detection. With this codex build came a fix for the hit detection that can now detect hits almost as well from stationary targets to fast moving targets. I am for new avasive mechanics like you proposed only if it would require less stamina than running. |

I'm not talking about hit detection issues, but shooters with halo like mechanics, which I thought always looked ridiculous. I like the more strategic shooters over the frenzy of jumping and zig zaging in the open as a method of evasion.
Never understood how that became a staple due to the severe departure to anything recognizable from actual combat. There is more strat with focusing on positioning, formation, and initial sights. |

If we had suits in real life with that could survive many hits from projectile and plasma fire, had regenerating shields, and possibly regenerating armor (repair module), people would strafe in real life as well. We don't strafe in real life to evade the aim of our enemies because we can get killed in 1 hit, so your argument about actual combat is BS.
I hate when people like you throw around words like "tactical" and "strategic" like it means realistic. Strategy and tactics are about making use of actions to reach a desired goal, therefore strafing is strategic in the sense that its an action to meet to goal of avoiding the enemy's aim on you. |

Please no "cover system" like Gears of War or something. Those ruin so many games. That's all I want to say really. |

I would like to see rolling for all suits with speed and distance depending on weight of the suit. |
