Someone told me a while back that Forge Guns were expensive and it's only right they should be able to take down Dropships and tanks so quickly. I've been gunned down in my Dropship by regular Forge Guns so I decided I wanted to try it out.
Go off to the market and find it's 8,800 ISK for one.. so I could buy 10 of these for 88,000 ISK and very easily kill off vehicles? What a deal! Honestly, the Forge Gun is one of the most powerful things in the game, and the most basic one can two hit most Dropships (1200p/h).
So, any thoughts on the pricing of the Forge Gun? It doesn't seem right to me that something so cheap can be so destructive.. |

You compared it with a dropship. A dropship is no gunship its a transporter. Fight a tank with a forge gun and then you can talk. Generally you loose three forge guns on one tank and you get just three kills and destruction or even just assists. |

I can kill a tank with 2 flux grenades and maybe 2 shots of basic forge gun. The pricing is right for me, forge gunner has a lot of disadvantages. The beholder can only be suited in Heavy suit, which they are slow, can only be carried with SMG or a pistol, no nanohives.
You also need to add passive repair for armor. If you look at the free Heavy suit, it has 0 repair. |

1st, Yes I compared it to a Dropship, the reason is that a Dropship is pretty cheap when it comes to Vehicles. An unfitted Myron costs 220k. A basic Forge can 2 hit it, so 8,800 ISK v 220,000 ISK already. But a lot of people will fit their vehicles with better stuff, mine costs me 300k right now (And I plan to continue up to about 600k ISK per ship) BUT, again a 8,800 ISK Forge Gun can take it out quite fast, and it doesn't seem broken? Don't get me wrong, I understand a Dropship is a Transport, I fully intend to utilize it as a transport vehicle when I can actually go over to an objective and not get destroyed by a 8,800 ISK Forge Gun instantly or flipped by a Free Swarm Launcher.
2nd, Sure, a Forge Gunner will have a slight disadvantage but the moment he works with a basic Squad (Lets say two Assaults, 1 Logistic Player and himself) He will dominate any vehicle on the field, LAV, Tank or Dropship.
The problem is, the pricing is just not right. Any reasonable vehicle pilot/driver will invest ISK into their vehicles, be it L/HAV or Dropships, but what is the point when that 8,800 ISK forge gun can kill us off anyways? Don't get me wrong, I've been killed by proto Forge Guns before but I just tip my hat and respect that the guy has worked at his Forge Guns, what rages me out is when someone jumps into a basic Heavy fit with a Forge Gun and destroys me whilst I'm flying around.

They should leave the forge gun as it is but give the dropships more HP and think about swarms a bit |

Seems like another vehicle balance issue being incorrectly labeled as a forge gun balance issue.
Also a good dropship should not get one shot by even a proto forge gun, unless you're unlucky enough to get hit by a breach at which point you got wrecked by a gun that cost 110k. |

after the first shot you've got 3 seconds to evade the second shot and get your remote shield repper going. you should be fine. |

indeed... if you are moving slow/predictably enough for a forge gunner to get two-three hits on you in rapid sucession you deserve to lose it. its not exactly easy to hit a dropship at high altitude moving at half decent speed. not to mention the range on the turrets on the dropship is ludiculous (way more than forge gun range) |

Also, you're not taking into account the cost of the rest of the fitting. For example, if I die once, it costs me to replace not only my assault forge, but also my assault scrambler, my heavy type 1 drop suit, my militia locus grenades, my basic tier 3hp/s armor rep, my heavy weapon enhanced damage amplifier and my sidearm enhanced damage amplifier.
Sure it's nowhere near as expensive as a drop ship, but it's a damned site more than 8,800 isk for a basic forge gun. |
