Someone told me a while back that Forge Guns were expensive and it's only right they should be able to take down Dropships and tanks so quickly. I've been gunned down in my Dropship by regular Forge Guns so I decided I wanted to try it out.
Go off to the market and find it's 8,800 ISK for one.. so I could buy 10 of these for 88,000 ISK and very easily kill off vehicles? What a deal! Honestly, the Forge Gun is one of the most powerful things in the game, and the most basic one can two hit most Dropships (1200p/h).
So, any thoughts on the pricing of the Forge Gun? It doesn't seem right to me that something so cheap can be so destructive.. |

1st, Yes I compared it to a Dropship, the reason is that a Dropship is pretty cheap when it comes to Vehicles. An unfitted Myron costs 220k. A basic Forge can 2 hit it, so 8,800 ISK v 220,000 ISK already. But a lot of people will fit their vehicles with better stuff, mine costs me 300k right now (And I plan to continue up to about 600k ISK per ship) BUT, again a 8,800 ISK Forge Gun can take it out quite fast, and it doesn't seem broken? Don't get me wrong, I understand a Dropship is a Transport, I fully intend to utilize it as a transport vehicle when I can actually go over to an objective and not get destroyed by a 8,800 ISK Forge Gun instantly or flipped by a Free Swarm Launcher.
2nd, Sure, a Forge Gunner will have a slight disadvantage but the moment he works with a basic Squad (Lets say two Assaults, 1 Logistic Player and himself) He will dominate any vehicle on the field, LAV, Tank or Dropship.
The problem is, the pricing is just not right. Any reasonable vehicle pilot/driver will invest ISK into their vehicles, be it L/HAV or Dropships, but what is the point when that 8,800 ISK forge gun can kill us off anyways? Don't get me wrong, I've been killed by proto Forge Guns before but I just tip my hat and respect that the guy has worked at his Forge Guns, what rages me out is when someone jumps into a basic Heavy fit with a Forge Gun and destroys me whilst I'm flying around.
