If you don't know, in MoH: Warfighter, there is a support action (killstreak) that lets you deploy a Mk. 19 which you can view here . Then I thought, "why can't other games have this? Well, maps are really too small for this.....". And then I thought of the perfect game to add this, and that game is Dust 514.
How it would work is that it could only be for heavy suits, and it would slow you down even more, and that you have to deploy it to fire the gun (because even those fat suits can't take the recoil from a gun that big.). They could all get a big Ammo suppply, but takes at least 3 seconds to get one reload. Now once you deploy the gun on a surface (hold O) you can let go, and then start shooting, or Press L1, aim, then start shooting. And it will only have, say a 75 degree turn radius.
Gun types:
HMG: I know there's already a HMG, but it will have it's name changed to MMG (Medium Machine Gun), and this will be called the HMG. The HMG could be a slow firing, high damage, long range weapon. It's assault varient could have a faster ROF, but less damage. It's breach varient could be semi auto, and have lots of damage.
Ion Beam: The Laser Rifle, but stronger. same varient types as laser rifle.
Mortar: The mortar is a tri-barreled mortar that fires off one round at a time, but that's all that's similar with the varients. First is the regular one, and that fires a Dumb-fire round at the spot that you pick from the map. The assault varient fires all three shots at three different spots at the same time, but has a slower reload. The tactical varient has the same damage, but you can control the shot after a time so it can get in the air, but the shot has a slower speed.
Machine Mass Driver: like the HMG, but fires the mass driver's munitions, but with more recoil.
(Please do not troll, or rage at me, and give reasons on what you think is bad, and how would you balance them. be cool) |

You do not understand this concept at all.... which reminds me to fix something on this post. anyways, I'm talking about man portable guns, not those big guns. |

Matobar wrote:I agree with the above post that the question is indeed whether this idea will work for DUST or not. I like the idea, I really do, but I'm also concerned about the similarities between these weapons and the soon-to-be deployable turrets. Plus, we'd be giving more heavy-hitting, exclusive weapons to the heavy, which is already packing a lot of heat.
so two weapons is a lot, and out of those two, one is usless past 40 meters HMG
Anyways, the turrets are not what I ment. These would be small,man-portable guns. Turrets, if you haven't figured out, is several tons too heavy to carry around. THis would be the type to deploy, kill, pick up, and move. Plus, These guns could only be useful doing support work on taking an objective (because the turrets defend objectives better.), so They are very limited in roles. And did you not notice the fact that you wouldn't be able to just run around and shoot these guns?
As stated by several people in history's past, people never listen or read something fully....

But first, don't talk down to someone especially after asking for no hostile replies. What your response tells me is that you're expecting no opposition to this idea of yours. "Be cool" my ass.
Odius is right though. Those big guns that the MCC can call down provide good strategic possibilities already, and they'll provide even more when energy and projectile variants became available. This HMG might as well be a auto cannon turret. The same with the Ion Beam. And instead of a rapid fire mass driver (which sounds like balance shattering overkill), we might as well have a howitzer turret. There are already powerful weapons at a heavy suit user's disposal. Have you not used a forge gun?
Your idea is good but not every good idea fits in every game. It works for Medal of Honor because it was made for Medal of Honor, It won't work for Call of Duty because it's a run and gun lone wolf playground. It won't work for Dust because there really is no need for them, we already have and are soon to get more weapons that can provide the kind of firepower these portable guns of yours would give.
I'm not talking down to him, I'm stating to him that he didn't get the concept at all, because the auto turrets were non portable. strong, but non portable. these guns would fill in the gap of the turrets, and portable guns. Well, these guns are really semi-portable, because it's not like you could fire it while it's not deployed. Anyways, There's only two heavy weapons, and the only useful one is the forge gun. Even then, it's horrible aginst infintry, and is good at AV combat. these guns would be good at both. These could even be concidered a "special weapons" category, because they're not normal weapons.
And the hole "There's no need for them" is invalad, because there's no need for many things in this game, yet they are there (mass driver is a big one.). That doesn't mean it doen't have to be in the game. And MoH is cod, but slighty larger. Everyone knows that (well, you didn't, but now you do.), so by your logic, MoH doesn't need them either. O wait, it's inthere, and it works perfectly, and that's in CQ. Think of how well it would wprk in big maps. Now try again. |
