Okay, I'll get this out of the way: I'm a sniper. That guy who's taking potshots at you 500+m away and 1/2/3-shot'ing you and probably causing some form of "WTF" as a consequence? That's me. If it make you feel better, I prefer counter-sniping (they're easier to headshot).
Something I'm noticing when I'm sniping is that there are shots where I'm clearly hitting the target, but not seeing a hit marker or reduction in health. There's some kind of bright-blue flare (shield?) where it hits the person, but there is no damage. I'm wondering if this is a bug or if this is some kind of equipment or other module that is causing this.
On a semi-related note, I'm noticing that when I have my "cross-hairs" over a soon-to-be-dead guy who's making the mistake of not constantly moving around there's a percentage that pops up under their health bars. What does that percentage correspond to? Exposure? Chance to hit? Stamina? It's just a minor question.
Sorry if these have been answered, but several searches didn't pop up anything. |

I have every battle the same problem.
This Hit Detection is really a shame for CCP. |

The effectiveness percentage you are seeing is just that. How effective your gun will be if you shoot them with that gun at your current range. If it's 0%, you're not going to do any damage and need to get closer or wait for them to get closer to you! |

Sorry Nova i know what you mean, but there is really a big Problem with Hit Detection.
when i hit 3-5 times and i see the shield blinky but not take damage ,then is there something to fix.
This Problems are known since weeks but still not fixed from CCP. |

Yeah, hit detection is totally ****** still. Some individuals seem to be more often immune to hits than others, though. One sniper, first name starts with an N and last with a K, is immune to damage most of the time. I'm not sure if it's an issue related to latency -- maybe individuals lagging badly are the ones more liable to be invulnerable -- but it's an amazingly frustrating thing to be dealing with through yet another build. |

Some of those immune to hits are individuals who are using the redline of the home base to make your shots ineffective. But thats another subject all togeather. |

I know exactly what you are talking about, man. And unless you do a lot of sniping it's not something you'll encounter or even notice. This is my guess as to what's going on, but this is only a guess. There is going to be an offset for collision detection from an object and your character. This is probably done to try and prevent being able to stick your gun through a wall or crap like that. Objects like supply depots have a shield around them and the shields are also offset from the object just like on your character model. It seems that object using textures/primatives/geometries or whatever, also have shields but only the bit that is offset from the actual object.
So when it looks that person is sitting completely exposed they are actually behind a shield. Next time it happens look at the shield damage thing that will pop up. It is flat and much larger than the player. Again, just a guess but CCP needs to fix that for sure ASAP as it is complete crap. The collision offset of an object also only seems to apply to only your character model and not you weapon and was never intended to project off of a flat object like a wall meaning the other player can stick the barrel of their gun through the shield and shoot you but any round you fire at them will hit the objects shield and not theirs.
I hate it so much. Probably tied with seizure you have when you touch another player as the most annoying and serious glitch in this build. And again, this is only a guess and may be completely wrong. |

You can kill enemies who are in their red line area, I'm pretty sure.

Yeah, it isn't this at all. It's weird that you'd think it's this. Do you only shoot people around supply depots? I shoot people in plain view, nowhere near a supply depot or capture point, sitting still, and do zero damage, all the while the people I'm shooting at begin looking around, moving a bit because they hear the sniper shots near them. It's really frustrating. |

No, you misunderstand. I'm not talking about supply depots. I'm saying that object in the field might use some object or texture or whatever that is also on a supply depot or some other shielded object. An error in programming is applying a shield to an object that should not be shielded., such as a wall. Next time it happens look at what happens. I'll bet you'll see a shield impact and it looks exactly like a flat wall and not like it does when you shoot a player. There have been times where I didn't see anything and yet still I couldn't hit them but that doesn't mean a shield isn't there, maybe it doesn't have the files included to show shield impacts. Maybe that object has a shield but was made before the shield impact graphics were implemented in the game. I know enough about coding and basic game design to make the guess that this is what is happening but I don't have to expertise to explain it better or to confirm it. But I do know the number one rule of game design is recycle and re-use.
3D modeling is a pretty time consuming process and objects are frequently made from several different parts so you can easily isolate a certain part of it to make small changes. It's standard practice to reuse some of these parts you've created for something else by maybe scaling it, combining parts from different objects to create something new and so on. It's much easier to use what you already have than to make everything from scratch. So I'm guessing some component from a shielded object was used to create certain walls for example and part of the shield was inadvertently added to an object that is not supposed to have it. Just a wild guess though, like I said I'm not an expert.
EDIT-Just thought to also ask you, have you ever had this happen when they were completely in the open? Or is it only when they're next to some object? It only happens for me when they're next to something and never when they're just standing there in an open area. I apologize my first post wasn't very clear, my bad. |

Um....so I've had someone try shooting me repeatedly without dealing any damage.
If the carat is red it's an enemy. If it's blue or green it's not an enemy. Friendly fire is only on for damage you deal to yourself...so if you shoot at someone who's blue or green, they'll get a hit detection on their HUD, but won't take damage.
Also, if you shoot me and I'm on your team I mutter about their being noobs in the match and walk in a different direction. |

I've had this occur when people are running on flat ground, right out in the open. I've had it happen when they're sitting on a hill top, totally exposed. I've had it happen when they're behind the lip of a hill as well. I always see the blue shield flash when they're immune to damage. |
