Just in case some of you are still miffed about hit detection issues, Planetside 2 uses client-side hit detection. I just spend several hours watching all my targets warp around the map, infantry and vehicles alike. Client-side hit detection may be what a lot of you are used to, but its horrible for a game like this.
Also, STAR CharginMoose and CCP Blam have pretty much pinpointed the continued hit detection issues and framerate drops as being connected to a memory leak in the airborne particle textures. Basically, the dust blowing in the wind is eating a shitload of memory and lagging out the client's report of your shots, which of course isn't factored into the server-side calculation because the issue is client-side. CCP nothin said in IRC today that that issue is one of their major focal points for the next build. |

Lol at 666 likes but I've actually found that hit detection has been made on par with most released games I actively play but it could still use a bit of improvement and this idea could be what it needs. |

Yeah, that's what they're thinking. I'm still hoping for more assets in the next build, but I'll gladly make do with mostly performance fixes. |

Same here. I think theres enough content right now tokeep players grinding for awhile. As long as they keep polishing the gameplay/mechanics I can live without gunships a bit longer |

so basically there's no point in playing this abortion of a build. Thanks for letting me know not to waste my time knowing that it won't be fixed with this build.
BTW tell them to increase the clip size of the breach AR to 42 and also to increase the RoF slightly. |

Yes and after this DUST dust thingie being fixed up, it sounds like lag will be greatly reduced.

You do realize that they can only change things related to database values without a major release, which has to be cleared through Sony, right? And if there's no point in playing this build, why do I usually see you and the other Global Conflict guys online whenever I play, which is almost daily? |

@Snake Lies!! :D Work sucks :(
@4447 I'm just using up my AUR now. 10% damage mods, and I still can't slay anything with a pistol. I tried them all too... I'm thinking Dust "isn't for me" as so many people said months ago... I'll still pop on occasionally, mostly just to ***** about the new build with clan mates. |

I'm not that good with them, but I've had people tear me halfway into armor with a Militia one. |

Lol, so it takes 'dust in the wind' into account and deflects/swallows your bullets? Nice. |

It's funny how 2 seemingly unrelated tings can end up influencing each other. Perhaps not that unrelated, since IR bullets are affected by the wind. Still ... |

If the dust/debris is causing the framrerate drop, get rid of it. IMO, we dont need floating dust and debris in the visuals... ESPECIALLY if thats what is causing the memory leak/hit detect probs. |

Good to know they've found the problem. During a corp battle last night, I had at least three head shots dead to rights, none of which registered. My fellow sniping partner had the same problem as well, makes it very difficult when your teammates are counting on proper sniping or cover fire. |

This is why if you restart your ps3 when you start getting lag things normally get better. I also find it funny that gas clouds in EVE also have a tendency to induce some lag. Why you no get better at coding dust CCP? :) |
