CCP needs to adjust something.
Flying around in a circle while using a OHK missle launcher turret is a valid tactic, overwatch. Just wait till you have a game of 4 of them circling at quarter intervals meaning they are covering all 4 corners of the map as they zoom around. Now I know that they real world is a very touchy subject, but you burn more gas going full out than you do just going at a normal pace, ie they should have a limited time of supreme speed, where they have to hide behind a building in order to dodge swarms or to recharge their fuel cell. VTOL aircraft are notorious for being fuel guzzlers.
The defense against this is supposed to be a swarm launcher.
As I have needed to on occasion deal with a dropship or 5 in one game, when I came across one where it became a foot race with the enemy who called it in, I ran up a spire as it was taking off and chucked 3 AV grenades at it, they didn't lock on to the dropship and actually bounced down the side of it and exploded on an enemy LAV that rolled up underneath it. So now I am curious if AV grenades only work on LAV & HAV, as they don't work on installations.
As for the swarms I am only up to level 3 waiting for the sp cap to reset.... do they get more intelligent or advanced in tracking for the higher tiers? I don't mind needing to pull out something other than militia to blow something up, I just want to know I have a chance. Case in point, perfect line of sight of a dropship - coming right for me, lock on, fire.......why did they do a hard 90 degree left turn into the building 30 meters away from me? The guy who ran out in the open to take the shot. Now, if I had say the myron rocket turret as a launcher and no lock on I might have lived passed foolishly trying to run to the left side of the building that my rockets seem to like. The problem seems to be that the missle fired from a swarm to a dropship need to follow it before they even think of hitting it, ie if it is right above you they don't just shoot straight up they seem to require leveling out and a stable flight path.
Now I have gotten into a dropship, it being the only spawn not camped, why does everyone get XP for just being in it? That is the reason why no one leaves the things, you get +35's popping up like hot-cakes at IHOP, this XP should only go to the gunner that killed and the pilot. Simply being there seems cheap to me. |
