Figure I would make an official request for this, as somebody on the general forums coined a term that beautifully and simplistically defines an idea I had. SP rollover.
Not unlike cell phone minuets, the idea here is that points not collected during each weekly cap will be rolled-over to the next week. So say the weekly cap is 900k SP, and say I don't play for two weeks. Well with a SP rollover system, I would still be able to obtain the 1.8 million SP that I lost out on for not playing those two weeks. It may require a bit of grinding, but those points will still be available to me, instead of being lost forever as it is now.
The system now is only half-complete, the cap keeps the 24/7 players from having a distinct advantage over the causal players, but this is only good for a week at a time and is a very short-term solution. After a few months of this, new players and casuals will be massively behind and won't be able to catch up. Because say I miss out on 300k SP each week for a month, but the 24/7 player got all 900k every week, after a month he will already have 1.2 million more SP than I, and I will not be able to catch up unless the 24/7 player simply stops playing.
The system as it is now will also severely hinder new players that may have joined up a month or two after the release (or longer), because since their cap is 900k /week no matter what, they will NEVER be able to catch up to somebody who is consistently reaching the weekly cap and is many months into the game.
With a rollover system, new players can grind and grind and grind to reach the grand total SP limit, which means they will likely be able to catch up to players who have a month or two on them if they were truly determined to do so. |

Maybe, maybe not. That is the general forum, not sure they are going through every thread writing down suggestions. At least here is the official way to make a request, and I wanted to make sure they had the best chance of seeing it.
BTW, gangsta nachos here is the one who coined the term SP rollover. Thanks dude for giving me an easy way of defining this idea! |

Please explain why.
You are correct, though I haven't seen it until now.
Pretty much the exact same idea/concept, which tells me it is definitely a winning idea.

There should be roll over decay or something to stop it from complete ruinong the SP cap in the first place but 10+ |

Yeah, I was thinking about that too. Doesn't seem like there is any decent solution to that though.
Example:
Player 1 plays for 3 months, reached weekly cap every week, and has 10.8 million SP Player 2 starts playing after 3 months, this player is dedicated and plays non-stop. Starts at a disadvantage but quickly rises. Player 3 starts playing at same time player 2 does, but is only a casual player, progress is significantly slower.
Player 1 & 2 reach the same point after X amount of time, but player 3 is still way behind. Player 2, who started at the same time as player 3, has the SP advantage (like it would have been pre-codex). And Player 3, based on their playstyle, will never be able to catch up and will always be at a disadvantage.
So while the defined weekly cap and rollover total is at a fixed number, depending on when a player starts playing and how much they play, will prove to be the defining factor.
Rollover decay will only benefit those who have been from the start and keep reaching the weekly cap, and thus, they will always have the advantage. Cause once you decay that number, the SP pool will be shallower for those starting out late, and will be deeper for those who played longer. Which is basically what we have now, just much less of a sharp edge.
With an SP rollover decay, player 2 would not be able to catch up with Player 1, and player 3 might be at even more disadvantage cause they could hit that wall.
With the SP rollover system as defined by my OP, a dedicated player can reach the same point as somebody who has been there from the start. And the casual player will be where they normally would be, regardless of what system is in place... behind the more dedicated players. |

So why then should player one even try and be dedicated? He could put for minmal effort and never worry having a massive sp cap over the other two
Another point maybe the amount of increased SP cap decay could be based off amount the more you exceed the orginal SP cap the faster it decays back down.
Question SP eoll over is the sp earned minus the Cap added the your next CAp amount so wouldnt player one always have more? |

I would prefer that they remove Decay all together let me Hit cap as quickly as possible.
So i can move on to a different things that do not give sp (future release content) , Corp battle, fraction warfare, Null sec, and pve content. Plus since this game is a "long Term game" console people still want to play the latest "new Release 1 week titles"
only Go between i can think to do is Keep the Weekly Soft cap have no Decay for the amount of weekly soft cap. But what about the people that come in a month later? easy fix for that. They have no decay on the Weekly soft cap. Once these people hit the soft cap a Decay kicks in for them like we have now. So after about 2-3 more months they can actually catch up to the Hard Cap (which the hard cap is the total accumulation of soft caps since release) till they are in the same boat as the people that have played dust since release.
Since we do not have all the "additional Content" that will not pay SP. do you want to spend your time in "High Sec" Matches Grinding away at Decay? I would rather Hit 0 then move on to other things. |
